Week Two Results

January 17, 2011 by Kath

Well, two weeks down and things are still going well. I’m absolutely loving all the “free” fruit and feeling better than ever. AND. The best part? I’m still losing weight. It’s not exactly coming off at a fast pace, but it’s a reasonable pace. And I have to remind myself: it took nearly two years to put this weight on, so it’s unreasonable to expect that it’ll come off faster than that, especially if I want it to stay off.

So: what did I lose this week? Down another 1.2 pounds! Not a lot, but considering that’s 3.4 pounds total in 2 weeks, I’m not fussed. The way I see it is this: I’m happy, feeling better and losing weight, and as long as that number on the scale goes down, I won’t complain, even if it’s only a pound or even a tenth of a pound.
So I’m happy with my progress, and although 3.4 pounds doesn’t seem like a lot, I feel different. Maybe it’s due to weight loss, or maybe the new healthy diet is improving my self-esteem. I don’t know the reason, but I feel better about myself. And because I feel better about myself, I feel better about how I look.
So I went shopping. First of all, EVERYTHING at Jacob was 50% off. EVERYTHING. So I bought three shirts: a beautiful pale blue sweater with a cowl neck, a lovely chocolate brown v-neck sweater and a flowing patterned blouse. I tried on more things (that fit! that I liked!) but I had to narrow it down. Wow, what a feeling!
And then I went to Banana Republic. More great sales there, and I had the same experience! Almost everything I picked to try on not only fit me, but actually looked good, and I had to narrow down my choices. Here’s what I bought:

I’m so excited to wear all of my new shirts that I can hardly decide what to wear to work tomorrow!
And this, more than anything, is why I’m committed to this weight loss journey. No, not just for the joy of shopping at Jacob and Banana Republic, but for the joy of feeling good in my own skin. Because when you feel good in your own skin, everything else can fall into place.

Well done, Kath. I’ve just started a detox and am on a health kick (for a number of reasons) and feeling better than I have in a long time! A bit of retail therapy also adds to it, doesn’t it? I’m admiring your shopping choices – but realising it’s summer here!!!! (I’m in Oz).

Well done! And hooray for shopping! I have a wad of cash saved up from my last birthday and Christmas that I plan to blow once I reach my goal (still a long ways off…I’ve lost 4 lbs total since Jan.1 on the new WW plan). Like you, even though I haven’t lost that much yet and it’s going slowly, my demeanor has improved as I feel good about making strides in the direction of my goal, and I don’t feel as deprived as I thought I would.
Thanks for posting your updates here; it’s nice to know we’re not alone in the journey and effort. 🙂

Congrats on your success! You’re so right – feeling good ab yourself is the beginning of everything good. Your new clothes are lovely. Jacob is my favorite store!
