I just watched this documentary and it made me want to hide in a closet, shut out the real world with all of its toxic processed food, rock back and forth to the soothing rhythm of my industrial juicer and sip on some freshly pressed kale juice for the rest of my life.
Totally a realistic life change, no?
If you haven’t seen the documentary, I highly recommend it, although it is very thought-provoking and left me kind of wondering what I should eat. Its main focus is on divulging the truth about the processed crap that it’s so much of our foods today, how sugar is in everything and how obesity and diabetes are running rampant as a result, and how it’s possible to be overweight yet still starved of what your body actually needs to thrive. I see the truth in it all, but I am a little wary of any diet plan that completely cuts out certain foods. In my life thus far, moderation has given me more success than anything and I am skeptical of completely cutting out wheat, or sugar, or dairy. Because they are DELICIOUS.
That being said, the documentary got me curious about the benefits of juicing. It seems like a wonderful way to get nutrient-dense superfoods into one’s system, but it also seems like something that hippies do, so I’m not sure if it’s for me.
Are any of you really into juicing? Or Vita-Mixing? What would you say to someone who’s interested in it, but not sure if she’s ready to pay hundreds of dollars for a new kitchen appliance? Are the benefits really worth it?
