No – I am not talking about the young perky woman who steals your hubby but my children of course. The boys to be exact.
One would think that just maybe, just maybe, I could have ONE holiday that is calm, peaceful, and where everything goes just right. Keep dreaming! This Easter weekend started out okay but by Monday morning I looked like this:
Everyone had too much chocolate and were experiencing the good old sugar rush, then sugar fallout! Everyone (including me) was grouchy, tired, and the children just kept arguing about the silliest things. By 9am I had had enough! I put Thatcher and Tanner for a nap then told the children I had a really bad headache and needed to rest. I layed down and started to drift off when I sensed one of my offspring beside the bed I was in. It was Joshua – it was always him who ensured that I knew what everyone was doing – particularily if it is bad.
“Mom! The TV isn’t working!”
“Is it plugged in?” It seemed like a fair question to me…………..
“Yes! But Sebastian and I had the TV on when suddenly the picture went brownish, then there was no picture just sound! Then all of a sudden poof! The TV went dead.
After investigating it was true – my TV was dead. This TV is only 4 years old and this is the second time we have had an issue with it. Thanks Samsung.
After disconnecting the TV and hooking up a smaller one I tried to rest again. My head was pounding. I should have known better. Ryley came rushing in from the backyard to tell me Sebastian just broke a window.
“It wasn’t my fault!” screamed Sebastian.
“How did it break?” I asked. “Was it the winds fault? You know the same wind that broke the laundry room window?” This was the excuse Sebastian had given last time he broke a window.
“No. It was Ryleys fault.”
“NO!” Screamed Ryley.
“Yes! He dug a hole in the ground the other day when he had the sprinkler on – even though you told him no sprinklers – so when I hit the ball with my hockey stick it bounced in the hole and then bounced back out then flung into the air. Then it smashed the window.”
Holy cow the kid is creative.
I went to survey the damage and here is what I found:
So in a matter of a few weeks we have had damage from the hockey net being taken to the basement, my TV stopped working and I have yet another broken window. And lets not forget the daily events such as marks on my wall, clothes strewn all over the house, marker without caps that seem to pop up in every room, and dents in my walls from who knows what.
Gee maybe I should just put them all in a big box? Nah they would find a way to destroy that too.
How was your holiday weekend?
Until next time,
