WEIGHT UP/DOWN THIS WEEK: +1.8
POUNDS TO GO TO GOAL: 21.8
There is, evidently, no justice in this world.
I went back on Weight Watchers program last week, and now, one week later, I actually weigh more than I did when I started. Oh! And I went to the gym three times – two aerobic workouts and a 90-minute yoga class.
See? No justice.
But I’m determined to lose that 20 pounds (getting closer to 25 with each passing day) once and for all, so I’m going try something different this time. That doesn’t mean I’m giving up on Weight Watchers. No, it worked before and I have faith that it will work again, but I’m going to add in another element.
I’m going to get a personal trainer…
…in the vain hope that I will end up looking like this lady (yeah…RIGHT!)
I’m going to take a page from a few of those reality TV shows I love (X-Weighted, Taking It Off, The Last 10 Pounds Boot Camp) and get a person who actually knows what they’re doing to kick my butt. When I had the opportunity to work with urbanmoms.ca’s fitness expert, Susan, I realized what a huge benefit having one-on-one attention from an expert can be. Too bad I live over 3,000 km away from her!
I figure I can make it to the gym three, maybe four days a week. And I do my 90-minute yoga class on Fridays. I’ll stay on Weight Watchers, ruthlessly counting every mouthful (I might have been a wee little bit slack on the tracking my first week back…you know; a few cashews here, finishing off my daughter’s english muffin there…it does really add up!).
Taking a realistic estimate of 2 pounds per week, I hope to be at my goal in ten weeks. That would take me to March 19th. So. Ten weeks. I can do this!
Are ya with me? What’s your goal? How are you getting there? Big moves (à la my new personal trainer) or small steps (à la tracking everything I eat on Weight Watchers)? Share below in comments and get the mutual support of all of us!

It’s hard, isn’t it?
I gained 5 pounds over xmas after having lost 15 pounds since September. I am going to a gym (joined in November) and plan on going 3-4 times per week and try to watch what I eat, but it’s hard–not much self control if the bad stuff is near!

I’ve started watching what i eat too. Since the 1st of Jan i eat no carbs after 5pm; only veggies, i add protein if i am very hungry. I “tell” myself i can eat what i want in the day for the psychology (is that english? oh well you understand) when in reality i really watch what i put in my mouth. I want to loose 13 kg by the end of June, more if i can.
I really hope i can do it this time, i have only had bad experiences with… diets!!!!

Sounds like a great plan, Kath! I’m actually excited about returning to WW after this baby is born. I’m motivated by your well-organised plan and will join you in the point-counting come April. I want to start running and hope to do a 10k by october – do you think that’s doable?

Just got back from a 20 minute run. Hooray! Don’t feel so bad about the cookie now 🙂

Ugh…the Ginger Molasses cookie at Starbucks got me…and I haven’t gone for a run yet…will try and fit it in before the day is through to allay my guilt.

I actually prefer to read the book after the movie – the book is usually better and fills in a lot of the blanks.

I just joined WW last night Kath and have signed up for the San Diego Marathon in June so I am with you pound for pound, inch for inch and in my case, km for km. Yeah us!

i feel like people with personal trainers always do well because they have someone breathing down their necks, making sure they are getting the most out of their workouts. you are going to do great, Kath!

I’m with you! I have about 26lbs I would like to be free of as well. I figure it should take me until May losing a pound a week. But that’s me being lazy. I am going to just bite the bullet and join you. Mid-March hey…I’m ready to go if you are up for the challenge, we’ll see who make it there first! Maybe having someone I know and see fairly often hold me accountable I will actually make it work this time!
