Oh my, Arcade Fire – you knock me out, again and again…
I love a catchy tune as much as the next person – pop is pop, dance music is excellent… always. But when artists like these make music all disco and (sometimes) French-ish and wonderful, I can’t help but swoon. If you didn’t know, the band is based here in Montreal, and they’ve won prizes all over the freaking place for making cool stuff.
I like cool stuff. And this stuff is brand new.
And video is such a wonderful medium – I don’t really have the words to explain how happy EXCELLENCE in this form moves me. When video for general consumption was new (I don’t mean in 70’s discos – I mean Much Music/MTV and the like in the early 80’s) I watched this new for of artistry take over, and I was forever changed. New music and new images… I could hardly stand it. I would scarcely blink for fear of missing a single thing, and I watched them over and over and over again.
The Arcade Fire + the magic of David Bowie (background singer) = new ear and eye candy, like whoa. Suck up some coolness and enjoy…

That’s CRAZY good. And David Bowie has got to be the master of avant garde video anyway – goodness knows I’ve seen just about everything he’s put on celluloid… I wonder if he had a hand in the making.
And of course now, all I want is a ginormous fibreglass head to wear everywhere, and I want to decoupage glass remnants on anything that will sit still.
I could probably use a disco ball in my life also…
Maybe I should just start a band.
