Who needs a lift? I’ve got room.

September 17, 2012 by Heather GD

I have an overwhelming urge to buy a table.
Not just any table but a long one. Or one that comes in multiple boxes.
If not a table then I want to carpool. I want to drive all the kids in the neighbourhood somewhere or maybe just have a car party where we never actually go anywhere but have a good time doing it.
These are the things that are run through my mind, every time I climb into the Dodge Caravan Crew.
I’ll be driving along normally and then I’ll check the rear-view mirror and have these random thoughts about the things we could do with this van.

fetchimage.jpg
It’s the first time I’ve ever had THIS much space!
It’s not an easy thing for a chick who is used to using the brain muscles to figure out which child needs to be left behind in the grocery store parking lot if I want to get the watermelon home.
Suddenly I’m filling the extra deep cargo bin (it’s the space where the third row stow n’ go seats tuck away when I’m not using them)  in the trunk  with all my purchases and still finding there’s room for a few suitcases.
And when all of the seats are tucked away I could easily move a hockey-playing surfer’s  entire apartment.
(Anyone?)
fetchimage3.jpg
When the kids are in the car they do their best to spread out and make use of it all. They’ll opt for different rows knowing they can have a TV screen each, and if I put the loudest one in the back my sanity gets a boost too.
fetchimage2.jpg
It’s not just me. It seems my neighbours have noticed too.
“Look at all that room! You need to have more kids,” one shouted to me as I unloaded groceries from the van on the weekend.
Um. No.
And that’s why I’m sticking to the table.
I think we should get a table! Don’t you? 😉

I have always LOVED my Dodge Caravan and it has come in handy over the years. We just started taking ringette so love the space for ringette bags for my daughter and a friend. Our trips to the beach in the summer are great as we load up the van with chairs, shelter, picnic, beach toys and floaties. My husband usually has to make at least two trips just to carry it all and that is with us helping. AND the space for camping equipment is GREAT! We love our dodge

In new vehicle – storage and advantage of the abundance of seating is one of the things I look for… nothing else mater
only space… for storage and advantage of the abundance of seating… for whole family

I would take advantage of the abundance of seating and storage space in the Dodge Grand Caravan by offering some of my neighbors a ride to the local food bank once a week. I live in a low income area and many of the people here need the food bank, but don’t have a way to get there, it’s about 2 miles each way, but that’s too far to carry several heavy bags. I enjoy helping people and this would be a great way to do that!

I would love a Dodge Caravan with all that space.
Right now we are driving a 2 door car which is not good when my 14 year old son needs to come along.
He is tall with long legs and squishing him into the backseat makes it a painful ride for everyone especially his 11 year old and 6 year old sisters that is in the backseat with him.
I would give my son the whole backseat to himself so he could stretch out and be happy.

I would love the extra room for filling up with my catering supplies on my way to an event! Not to mention fitting a ton of people in the car as well 😀

We would be able to fit everything needed for camping or a trip to the cottage with an extra guest or two & room for the dog!

I would be able to take all of my grandkids out for ice cream at the same time!

  12. mistycarole says

I would use it everyday. The extra room would come handy for roadtrip that’s for sure.

Hubby and I love our photography, and sometimes it mean hauling around some rather large pieces of equipment. We also fly remote control helicopters to obtain some of our photography, so for this reason (one of many), I would take advantage of the added space.

  14. tektite says

    September 22, 2012 at 1:27 pm

The extra space would be fantastic for all my kids’ sports equipment. It’s a mess in my current car.

  15. jennyr says

I’m pregnant with twins so the added space will come in handy day to day. Amazing how many things you need to carry around!

  16. Brenda says

I’d go on more road trips with my kids since there would be more room for the kids and they won’t be sitting so close together.

  17. Betty says

    September 21, 2012 at 5:03 am

I would take advantage of the space and seating for taking my children to university to live. They certainly take a lot of their belongings with them and we could do it in one trip instead of the multiple trips it has taken us in the past.

  24. freddybob says

I could certainly pile more groceries into this roomy vehicle; with all the hungry mouths I have at my house!

  25. deb says

    September 19, 2012 at 4:34 pm

I certainly could have used all that space last week when we went camping! Fitting everything, including the cat into a chevy aveo was a real challenge.

  26. RobynL says

    September 19, 2012 at 10:51 am

space in our truck is barely any space; we only have the bench seat and the
back of the box where we carry a large trunk container for when we shop.
I could use the spacious vehicle for groceries, packages, puppy and kennel
and bikes, etc. No worries of things being taken from back of the truck would
    be an added bonus.

  27. viappia says

    September 19, 2012 at 10:24 am

My daughter keeps everything in the backseat so we need room for everything. Toys, books, blanket, snacks. You can never have too much room.

This would be wonderful for our family of four! We often bring my senior parents along on excursions as well, so to have all this room for people and their stuff would be great! It would also be super for all my mega grocery trips. We have a 1998 Dodge Caravan and we love it!

  31. pjh says

my son is into backpacking with friends, so the space in the van would be great given the amount of gear they have

  32. ArashNaghdi says

    September 19, 2012 at 8:11 am

we have 3 kids so this would be a great car, the amount of storage is quite good compared to other minivans we are looking at. The DVD screen is also bigger than the competition

  33. cinderellt16 says

I would love to actually be able to buy some new furniture, without worrying whether or not it could fit in my car, or have to pay extra to have it delivered. I almost just bought a new headboard for my bed, but didn’t bother because i assumed I couldn’t drive it home. The Dodge Caravan would have come in handy!

On the long weekend 5 of us are heading up North to visit the inlaws (haven’t seen them in years) and we’ll need to pack enough for all of us, plus bring some stuff to eat/drink (they don’t believe in eating or drinking except during meals and the kids were always hungry for snacks, plus myself, I like to drink/rehydrate myself other then just meal times) and we’re not certain if they’ll have room for all of us (two usually had to sleep on the floor but we’ve aged and grown since we saw them) so one of the kids already said they’d sleep in the vehicle instead of the hard floor (The van would be comfy)

I would use the space for the entire family including the hairy ones and actually be able to take the luggage, dog food and a few of the kids toys with room to put in some groceries to make a great family meal for everyone when we travel to the grand parents place. And everyone would be comfortable!

  38. jenna3967 says

We drive long distances in the summer to visit the in-laws, and it would be a wonderfully comfortable ride in this minivan.

  40. Silvana says

    September 18, 2012 at 7:48 pm

I strongly believe in car pooling, it’s good for the environment and good for people. As neighbours we need to turn to each other for help and freindship. Sharing the ride with kids, groceries, etc helps eveyone!

  41. lucky says

    September 18, 2012 at 2:51 pm

I would use the space to transport garden supplies like bags of soil, and plants from the local plant nursery.

  42. elkhornchris says

    September 18, 2012 at 2:07 pm

This would come in really handy in the fall when picking up veggies at farmer’s markets to can & freeze. We always have to watch how much we can buy as we shop around once a month -so it’s a big shopping trip. We live in a small town so when we make the excursion to a bigger centre we shop for groceries, hardware & lumber, and lots of water for drinking. The amount of room in this vehicle is amazing.

  43. bcgirll says

    September 18, 2012 at 1:12 pm

I have endless garden debris to take to the dump – instead of packing it into 5 gallon pails and taking a few at a time, I could take HUGE bags full of clippings, etc. all at once.

  44. MrDisco says

i’d love to be able to give my daughters friends a lift home! but with 2 kiddies (and 2 car seats), we can barely fit one other body between them. and let’s not mention groceries, a stroller, or anything else we need. long trips carting sleeping bags or bikes – ha – not in our honda civic! dodge grand caravan is an ideal space maximizer, and sleek to boot. i’d love to take our fam on a camping trip, with gear!

  56. RobinFarr says

    September 17, 2012 at 9:13 am

Very nice! We’re looking for a new vehicle and storage is one of the things we want. With one kid and another one due next month we quickly run out of room with 2 car seats in the car. I’d love something that could at least fit another adult or grandparent without squishing everyone in! And if we could fit a stroller and a dog too – bonus. 🙂
