Ya gotta love watermelon.
It’s juicy, full of vitamins, sweet and simply…a wonderful fruit.
Perhaps my only complaint is that sometimes it’s just too heavy for me to carry!!
They must have been listening to my complaint coz now you can buy these little cute ones.
(you know that small dark green watermelon I’m talking about, right?).
Today when my daughter came home from camp, we did a fun watermelon activity.
We made a Watermelon Hedgehog carving. How adorable is this?
Then we made watermelon popsicles. I simply put watermelon chunks into the blender and whizzed it up. Then I poured it in the moulds.
How simple. How refreshing.
I love it. Infact my whole family loves watermelon. My dad taught me to add a little (ok a dash) of salt onto a watermelon slice to bring out the flavor.
Naturally I passed this little tidbit of information to my kids. Last nite, my son told me that he had his whole cabin adding salt to watermelon at camp.
Too funny.
Anyone else have other watermelon recipes? treats?

A very good article and excellent blog. Is there any way I can subscribe to new articles, you know like getting them on email or something like that.

looks yummy. I’m going to go look for my popsicle molds.
I remember sitting on my grandparents’ porch spitting seeds in their backyard and my grandfather telling me I would grow a watermelon in my stomach if I swallowed any seeds.
My kids are so used to the seedless variety that when I inadvertently bought a (delicious, Ontario) watermelon with seeds they wouldn’t eat it!
p.s. do you have any blueberry recipes? Those berries looked great

Vicky …great article. I also remember adding vodka to watermelon for Argo games in the early 80’s!

I craved & ate watermelon through my entire pregnancy and now my little daughter loves watermelon.
I love this activity and can’t wait to do this with my daughter when she is a bit older.
I just might make watermelon popsicles this afternoon. Thanks for the tip.
