Skating in Your Basement…

February 24, 2010 by vweiss

national home show 001.jpgI went to the National Home Show for the first time in years. I forgot what a fun show it was. I had the opportunity to watch Ty Pennington from Extreme Makeover on stage and dazzle a huge audience plus I had time to stroll around the aisles.

I was admiring hot tubs, patio furniture, landscaping, and then I came across this one booth and I said to myself “wow ..now that is kewl“.

So what am I referring to? Actually it wasn’t a booth. It  was a hockey rink with a guy skating on it with a hockey stick. I soon realized he wasn’t on ice. It’s a synthetic plastic surface that looks like ice and the guy skating (the owner actually), had REAL skates on.

I soon found out that they are a local company based in Mount Forest, Ontario.

The synthetic ice can be used in basements, garages, etc.. Imagine – a skating rink in your own basement. Your kids can skate without wearing snowpants, mitts, or jackets. You can save a TON of time. LOL.

I was in awe. I stood there for several minutes thinking of how many families would LOVE this.

For further info: check out their website www.skate365.ca or visit them at the show!!

The National Home Show runs till Sunday Feb. 29th at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.

This is SO cool and my kids would love it! Too bad our basement is too small.
