It was time. Eva’s training wheels were no longer level with her back tire, and she was riding her bike on a far right lean. We decided it was time to take them off.
She was able to ride her bike sans trainers right away. Balanced and in a straight line.
She couldn’t start.
She couldn’t turn and she could only stop by way of crashing into something. She demanded the trainers go back on.

A few days later she took a pretty good header over her handlebars because the wonky training wheels messed her balance up. Once home with a kiss and a few bandaids, the trainers came off for good.
Sean spent an entire Saturday teaching her how to start the peddles. Bless her – she was so patient and persistent.
The next day, the parking lot beside Gramma and Grampa’s allowed for plenty of turning practice.

And now. Well she’s a pro.
This is how we’ve been spending every afternoon after school.
Cuyler has absolutely zero interest in riding a bike so it will be awhile before we get to go for a family bike ride.
In any case…check another milestone off her list!
