I don’t know about you, but when I to New York, I feel a little overwhelmed. There’s just so much of everything…and everything looks great. Especially when it comes to food.
So this time, when my Husband and I were planning our anniversary getaway, I did a little research and asked around for some recommendations. Here are some of the highlights of our culinary adventures:
For our first meal, we went with a place near the hotel that was recommended by the Concierge (a smart, funky chick named Aisha who turned out to be a fabulous resource!) called Friend of the Farmer. I had the buttermilk pancakes filled with minced apples and cinnamon (see above) and they were to die for – served in a skillet with fresh pure maple syrup. A French press of fabulous coffee later, we were set to start our day, beautifully satiated!
Union Square was a vibrant and fun place to stay. Here’s a pic of the vibrant farmers’ market in the square. A bountiful, interesting array of organic foods displayed with panache.
Across the square from our hotel, we saw Republic, a bustling noodle house that seemed like a lively and fun place for a light lunch. My coconut-pineapple juice and seafood dumplings were the perfect small meal to keep me going for the rest of the day!

This is great! How did you learn about this when you were new to it?

I think I need to squeeze in a trip back to NYC soon.
I don’t miss it until I see shots like that one of Union Square, and the sight of brownstone steps…
What a great trip.
