New Year’s resolutions. We’ve all made them (whether we admit it or not) and we’ve all broken them (whether we admit it or not…). This year, I’d like to try to make others’ resolutions a little more fun with some great giveaways. During the month of January, Trend Watch columns will bounce off resolutions as a theme, and suggest some resolutions you may want to consider. To make it interesting, each resolution will have a fun giveaway to help you achieve your resolution goal.
First off, you may want to consider resolving to take better care of yourself. Starting with your skin. The largest organ we have, and yet so often woefully neglected. Your skin may be feeling horrible, pallid, dry and scaly at this time of year.
There’s a new Canadian company called Consonant Body Organic Skincare to the rescue. Bill Baker, the Canadian ad guy-turned-entrepreneur who researched and created Consonant now considers himself the expert in the field in this country.
Bill set out to create pure products that are pleasurable and stylish as well as pure. He likes to say that one could love Consonant because it’s "green" or in spite of it. I tried these products and enjoyed the fragrance, feel and efficacy of the soaps, shower wash and body lotion
I also really enjoyed the clean design of the bottles and the amusing labels on the products. The Organic Body Lotion invites you in with its label, "Hey you. Yeah you. I see you there with that cheeky grin on your face. Wondering whether this premium organic lotion will feel as good as the compliments you’ll no doubt receive after using it." Did I mention that Bill Baker’s a former ad guy?
These products are available at better beauty supply boutiques and online.
So, let your new year’s resolution be that you’ll take better care of your skin by leaving me a comment below with your resolution for 2009 (be sure to include your e-mail address so that I can contact you if you’re the winner) for a chance to win a great gift box of Consonant products valued at over $130.

Happy New Year!
My New Year resolution involves re-discovering and re-connecting with me, taking care of me (on both the inside and the outside), and truly discovering my passion (and then making that my “job” every day!). In other words – 2009 is going to be an exciting journey for me. Why? Why not!

Hi all,
I love the labels, so positive and funny!! I am always trying new lotions and shower gels so would love to try this brand. 2009 for me is all about finding balance: quality, simple moments with my 9 month old son, date nights with my husband, peaceful time to myself and lots of family time with hugs & kisses. Wishing you all much happiness and peace!!! 🙂

My 2009 will continue to focus on “greening” our household and bodies. I want to be more passionate about teaching the kids about green living, safe plastics, using phtalate free products in the house and of course eating healthy! Who knows maybe we will try something new as an experiment and life lesson like verma composting! Consonant products sound very cool- would love to try this line of products!
So true, the skin is our bodies largest organ, and often neglected the most. We forget how powerful it can be… crazy that everday drugs for some like Nitroglycerin patches, birth control etc. deliver through this huge organ to the rest of our bodies with ease!

My resolution this year is to focus on my health. I’ve had numerous health issues over the last 4 years including multiple surgeries and chronic pain. I’ve committed to going to the gym twice a week, even if all I do is some light cardio. It’s getting into the habit of going that’s most important.
I’ve also resolved that if chronic pain is going to be my life-long companion, then I need to learn how to live with it. I’ve been accepted into a program that will help me do just that, and I plan to make the most of it.

My resolution this year is NOT to work after the kids go to bed (not every night anyway.) and by doing this get more sleep. To really focus on family time from dinner until the kids go to bed. To see my friends more – maybe have them and their families over for dinner. And lastly to get some nice skin care products, as I am over 40!

I am committed this year to getting into shape. It has become a need and is not just a want anymore. Laziness is no excuse!

My resolution this year is to be more mindful.

Ah Jen, I do so enjoy these little gems of yours!! Although I don’t like to call them “resolutions” for the simple fact that they then seem more breakable, I am (already) making a conscious effort to make “me” one of the people I take care of. During an unusually introspective moment this week, I was asked to write down the most important people in my life. It was then pointed out to me that my own name wasn’t on that list!! So, 2009 is going to be all about me! (sort of…)

These skin care products would fit right in with my resolutions for 2009 – I have resolved to spend more time looking after my own self – skin, hair, the way I dress, what I eat (more like “when” I eat – never was into junk foods), and my sleeping “hours”. Being on disability and living alone, I sometimes forget to look after myself properly and go to bed at a decent time.

Ohhh, those sound lovely! I don’t have any resolutions this year, but I sure could use these. With a two-year old and a baby due in March, any little luxury is SOOOO appreciated!!

I am committed to find more “me” time in my schedule. I have one daughter left at home (17 and a handful) and I currently am also looking after my mom, who has severe alzheimers and my dad who recently had a heart attack. I’ve found it almost impossible to care for myself, my soul, my skin. I’d love to try this line as I have very sensitive skin and also have an allergy to a preservative that is used in many skin care lines.
Thanks

My extended family challenged each other to a “floss off” – there are 4 of us who have resolved to start flossing on a regular basis. So far I’m 6 for 6 – only 359 more days of flossing for a perfect record!
