I –much like, I assume, all of you — have HAD IT with this winter. The mittens, the wool, the salt stains, the misjudging of puddles and winding up ankle-deep in a sludge of indeterminate origin…DONE.
This time of year is, in a way, even tougher than winter itself, because daylight exists once again, and spring is so close you can almost smell it, but winter’s not quite yet done with us.
To save my sanity, I’ve instituted a little policy to get me through winter’s last gasp. Every year, I buy a little something really “spring-y” that I can hang in my closet and gaze at longingly. Possibly whilst muttering “soooon, my pet, sooooon.” Whatever, I don’t know. While I haven’t yet found this year’s spring-y purchase, I have broken out last year’s: a navy belted trenchcoat with darling red stitching detail.
Soooon, my pet, sooooon.
I highly recommend this approach; it doesn’t need to be anything hugely expensive; just something that cries out “SPRING! AT LAST!” to you. It works, I promise, and will put a smile on your face when you see it hanging in your closet…even as you lug out your snow boots for one last freak March snowstorm.
What do you do to get yourself through the end of winter?

I bought myself my dream trench last year at Madewell when I was in NY. I heard the forecast for this coming week and I started to get giddy that I could pull it out again….WOOHOO (although I freaking LOVE your coat!!!)

I’m the same. I wore a floral print shell under my cardigan yesterday – need to wear the spring-y clothes already!

I do something similar – I paint my nails an incredibly cheerful color and wear slightly lighter clothes than are appropriate for the weather, just guiding winter on its merry way.
