My Obsession with Cheese

January 26, 2010 by vweiss

cheese diary.jpgI can pass by an ice cream store, I can even pass by a chocolate store but I can not pass a cheese store. I must go in!!  I have no idea when my obsession started but it’s a full blown obsession.

Let me be more specific: I keep a cheese diary, I take cheese courses, and I have twitter friends who are in the cheese industry. I’m nuts eh?. LOL.

I have even gone to New York and took a cheese class that featured a mixologist with a cheese expert. It was the best $65 I have ever spent.

The photo you see is my idea of a cheese diary but one day I will go out and spend $5 on a real note book. I’ve just been lazy. One day (in my spare time) I will take it to a whole different level and transfer my cheese diary to my iPhone. Again, I’ve been lazy and haven’t done that yet. (shame on me). !!

However..there isn’t a happy ending to this story. In October, I really didn’t feel well. Terrible bloating, nausea, and in general just not feeling good. I thought I had a gluten problem but nope …I have a LACTOSE problem. This is not good news for someone who doesn’t eat meat and who has an obsession the cheese.

So now I carry Lactaid pills with me in my purse, in my car and of course they are in the kitchen too.

I am a now a happy camper and the first one to admit that I’m a cheese addict. Lucky for me, I have found cheese stores who cut me 50 gram slices.

Does anyone else share my Cheese Obsession?

Oh I’m another cheese obsessed person. I am very fond of artisenal raw milk cheeses that I hear are good an illegal south of the border.
That cheese pairing course with a mixologist sounds really cool!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who looks up cooking courses/seminars when I’m traveling.
btw, going to wander your follows for Cheese-y tweeps 🙂

Oh Vicky- while I’m certainly not as organized as you, I definitely share your love and obsession with cheese. George Brown will be starting a cheesemaking course this semester- so cool!
