Something amazing happened to me today. I was at the gym, trudging through my bi-weekly workout (that gets harder and harder as my belly gets bigger and bigger), and approaching the end of my session. I always leave my abdominal and core work till the end as it’s that portion of my workout that I find the most challenging and therefore despise the most.
I was attempting, at 32 weeks, to perform the exercise below:
As you can imagine, it’s a tough one right now, but I was giving it my best go. Suddenly, I hear that the trainer/trainee duo behind me are somehow referring to me. Here’s what they said:
TRNR: "Okay, let’s try the sideways plank"
TRNEE: "Ummm, I don’t know if I can do that."
TRNR: "Look at her, she’s pregnant and she can do it. Just do what she’s doing."
TRNEE: "Oh, I don’t think I’m able to do that."
Oh my God. They were talking about me as some sort of fitness role model. Gargantuan, very pregnant me who crawls into the gym twice a week hoping no-one will notice my incompetence in the fitness arena. I walked back to my car triumphant and feeling on top of the world! Here’s a pic of me upon my triumphant return home!
