As you know, I love twitter. (almost addicted, but not officially).
Back in February I was following tweets announcing 10,000 Red Prince apples were going to be given to lunchtime commuters in the PATH system (the underground walkway in Toronto’s downtown core).
Seeing as I am a major foodie..this tweet caught my interest.
I then started to follow @RedPrinceApple and they contacted me to find out if I would be interested in receiving a basket. Well that was a no brainer….YES!!
A beautiful basket came to my house and before you knew it I was slicing up the apples and making apple sauce. I LOVE the Red Prince Apple. It’s juicy, crispy, a beautiful color, not to sweet, not too tart. Do you know what I mean?
Here is a cool fact: Unlike most locally grown apples, the Red Prince apple is available in early winter until summer.
To find out more about Red Prince Apple…log onto www.redprinceapple.com. There is even a store locator (what a genius idea).
The Red Prince Apple is only available in Ontario but the contest is open to everyone across Canada. Isn’t that sweet.
So here is the story about the contest: I would like to know…what is your favorite apple?
The winner will receive a beatiful basket of Red Prince Apples and other apple related goodies.
(app. value $50).
The
contest runs until April 26, 2010.

My favourite apple is Macintosh. I love every year when Scouts Canada is selling them, they seem to be the best tasting apples ever. I have never heard of or tried Red Prince Apples. Going to look for them the next time I go shopping and give them a try.
Thanks
This is very short diet, so don’t cheat, follow the 3 day diet religiously and you will see results in just 3 days. Although I want to be clear that 3 days are not enough for stable weight loss results, but if you want to wear that new dress or to look perfect for a party or any other urgent reason, it will work.
I must say i value your time you have given to this report. We’re looking forward for your next article. Please that I ran across this an informative and interesting blog. I hope you may make another post to do with this. This really is deserving of reading.
What does dentistry school have to do with the topic of apples???? @dentistry????
I really love the red delicious apples. They say these apples have the most vitamins. Granny Smith apples are great too if you want something a little sour. Apples of any kind are wonderful.
The Pink Lady! I love the name too:)
I love Granny Smith apples – the crisp, tartness that makes your cheeks suck in! My 6 year old is a fan too! My husband and 4 year old think we’re crazy for liking them!
We are apple junkies at my house. My son likes granny smith, my daughters like emipre and macintosh, my husband likes anything made with apples (pie, crisp) and I love fuji apples. I will definitely be trying the red prince after all this hype
We like to eat Pink Ladies and I bake with Granny Smiths.

Also Pink Lady for a sweet day. 🙂
I haven’t been lucky enough to try Red Prince Apple – wish ‘they’ would send some
to BC to try. They sound wonderful.
As for a favourite apple, I’ve never munched on one I didn’t like, however, for the past two years, I would say Fuji comes first in pleasing my tastebuds.
McIntosh is my families favorite!
We always have Royal Gala in our house
There is nothing as pretty as a bright red shiny colored, encompassing a tasty, crisp and succulent textured, om tjos juicy round globe, and it is the BC RED DELICIOUS APPLE! A treat for the eye and the palate, It is our family’s favorite! ;-))

I am a Mac girl, be it apple sauce, apple crisp or apple rice pudding , but I will head over to Sobey’s to try the Red Prince Apple and let you know.

We love Spartan and Granny Smith apples the best and I hadn’t heard of Red Prince apples before. Your link to Red Prince apples should end in .ca ( .com as you had it went to just a site with a bunch of apple things)
My favorite is the Honey Crisp apple, they are one of the best grown in Nova Scotia.
When I am in Ontario this summer I will look for the Red Prince.
My favorite apples are Fuji and Red Delicious apples. So crisp and crunchy!
I’m an Empire type of girl!
our household fav. is red gala apples
Ok, my favourite are either Northern Spy apples or Russets. The Spy apples have a sweet sour taste and are wonderful baking apples. The russets have a lovely sweet taste…even if they look ugly! Mmmm, my mouth is watering thinking about them.
Our family loves apples! How do I pick just one favourite? My daughter loves Golden Delicious, hubby prefers Spartan, my son likes Macintosh, and my favourite would have to be a toss up between Pink Lady and Ambrosia. There is so much to do with apples – pie, cobbler, turnovers, cut slices drizzled with caramel sauce, and so on!! Yikes, now I am hungry for apples …
Thanks urbanmoms for this healthy opportunity!
Everyone in our house likes a different kind…my fav is Granny Smith.
I don’t think I have tried a red prince apple before. Think I will have to look for them this week when I do my shopping always like to try something new, even better when they are from Ontario.

Ambrosia is wonderful.
I prefer the Spartan apple
Love apples and my fav is empires or gala. Would like to try these new ones. sounds delish!
My favourite is the classic McIntosh apple — so tart & sweet at the same time, with a fresh, crisp taste. Make sure you get the ones from BC, because when they are grown somewhere else, they don’t taste that great.
My fave is Gala apples although my son prefers the tart green ones and my daughter loves the golden yellow ones. Decisions, decisions!!
I love the big juicy shiny red ones!
Royal Gala is my favorite

I love Gala and Red Delicious but I will eat any apple.
Fav apple is the Golden Delicious
Cortland is my favorite, I always get them from the farm. Amazing giveaway!!!

It has got to be the McIntosh. Just love those
my fave is the spartan, but Pink Lady is so yummy
I like the Spartan apple
Granny Smith is my all time favorite. Thanks for the giveaway and the opportunity to participate.
I love all kinds of apples. If I had to choose I would pick Granny Smith as I like the crispness and tartness.
My parents have The BEST apple tree in their back yard! When I was growing up, the Spartans would be ready in very late summer and after picking one off of the tree and biting into it, the juice would run down my arm and drip off my elbow!
So, for this reason, I adore a good, crisp, fresh spartan apple!
ty
My fave apple is the Golden Delicious. Where can I buy the Red Prince apple?
There are always apples in the house … a quick dessert (I am diabetic) or snack and liked by everyone in the family. My fave is the gala apple with golden delicious coming in a close second.
I luv apples. For eating, I like the empire apples the best. They aren’t squishy and have a nice tart flavour. When making apple pies or apple sauce, it is nice to have a few different types of apples to mix together matsuto, cortland, and empire are my favs for this.
My favorite is the Gala.
My favourite apple is Honey Crisp, it is so crisp and juicy and has a lot of flavour. I am fortunate to live in a valley where numerous orchards are grown, in the fall the choices are endless but Honey Crisp is always the most popular for our family.
My favorite apples are BC gala.
Looks like I’m not the only one that likes the Royal Gala! I recently bought a bag at a local farmers market that sold only organic produce. That little $4.99 bag of apples was the best I ever had!
I like Pink Lady apples the most.
I love red delicious, but fuji is my favorite.
Oh you know, an apple a day keeps the so and so away…………. It doesnt matter to me

MacIntosh wins every time!
I love all apples (although have never seen the Red Prince in this part of the world), but must confess that the Gala is close to my taste buds.
My favorites are Pink Lady apples because of the taste, and they seem to keep longer than any others, except for Granny Smiths (which I also love!).
I still prefer old fashioned MacIntosh. I use them for pies, apple sauce and eating fresh.
I have always love the Macintosh. Not too sweet and so crispy.
I haven’t tried those yet.
I love all of them. Honey Crisp is my favourite.
My favourite apple is fuji.
I love Royal Gala’s because I find that i can’t tolerate alot of the other apples because they are too acidic.
The HoneyCrisp is my favourite apple. So juicy and delicious ♥
Royal Gala is my favorite apple.
Royal Galla
My family have been Gala Apple eaters for quite a while now. I find they brown less than many other types when sliced, and we love the taste. I’d love to compare them to Red Prince!
My favourite apple by far is the honey crisp. I’t’s crispy and sweet like a pear. I would love to try the Red Prince and see if it compares to honey crisp.
The mac is my favourite apple. I grew up in apple country in Quebec and as I was picking apples I would love to snack on a macintosh. Now when I eat one I think of my child hood. Nothing is as good as sinking your teeth into a crisp delicious mac.
We love royal Gala and eat at least one a day per person
I like Gala apples the best. They are sweet and crunchy. So far I haven’t found an apple that can beat it.
My kids and I are dedicated Red Delicious fans (especially locally-grown Ontario Red Del – the best!)
I like Northern Spy for baking!
My favourite is a King apple. We used to have a tree in our yard when I was little!
I love MacIntosh apples the best. They’re amazing when they’re freshly picked in the early fall.
I love Pink Lady apples, but I can’t tell the boys in my house what they’re called or they won’t eat them, lol!
MacIntosh! Nice and tart, but a bit sweet 🙂
Fugi apples are my favorite. They are a combination of two varieties: Red Delicious and Ralls Janet. Developed by researchers in Japan. Fujis are okay for baking but best fresh or in salads. Fujis are very juicy, sweet and crisp. Yummy, while Red Prince Apples are more versatile. Would love to try them and share the joy with my little family. 🙂
I like gala apples from British Columbia
I like granny smith – tart and crunchy.
I favour the granny smiths of the world
Sorry but i think you have the wrong link. I think this might be it

But we will eat different variety of apples.
I love Fuji and Ambrosia apples. I like my apples crisp and a little tart.
My absolute favourite apple is a Russet apple. You can only get them in the fall and I anxiously await their arrival each year. They have such a unique flavour. I have always loved Macintosh’s but have recently been craving Granny Smiths!
I love a really crisp Gravenstein, but I also like Granny Smith apples.
Fond memories of the ‘sour’ apples that used to grow in our garden when I was young. Now I like Spartan or Mac – I have found Granny Smith’s are not as tart as they used to be!
Granny smith and macintosh!
My favorite apples are the ones that grow on our tree in the back yard. Other than that, I used to like MacIntosh best, but my new favorite is the Spartan, especially when they are slightly green.
My new favorite is Honey Crisp. They are so juicy.
I look forward to the honey crisp apples every fall. The season is so quick, and I always buy some for an arm and a leg at the grocery store then remember to go to the farmer’s market to buy a bushel for the same price as 4-6 from the grocer. Now I have to search out the Red Prince to try, maybe it’ll be my new favourite!
I LOVE a good crunchy red delicious apple.
I agree with Jan, my favorite apple as of late, is the Ambrosia..yumyum
I live in BC and have never tried the Red Prince, but they sound delightful!
I have never found an apple that I didn’t like. My favorite, off the top of my head, is McIntosh.
I love all types of apples but recently have discovered the Ambrosia. My two children love the Ambrosia too so it is easy to get them to snack healthy! Would love to give the Red Prince (apple) a try!

I love red delicious but the restr of my family love Granny Smith. Apples are the “great” food. you can do some much with them
I do love the Honey Crisp. Aromatic and juicy with a nice crunch!
We eat lots of apples at our house, but Honey Crisp are the best. They store well when they are cut up for everyone’s snack each morning. We love Honey Crisp apples. Thanks

I love the Honeycrisp apple! It’s so sweet and easy to chew…it really is fantastic!
I love honeycrisp apples. I always get them from my local farm but don’t see them as often in the grocery store.
My entire family loves Royal Gala. Sometimes I will be adventurous and buy a new type of apple but my family always notice. “These aren’t galas are they?” they will say, and then it is back to our favourite.
I love granny smiths…so tart, crisp and refreshing!
My favorite apple is Royal Gala. When I find the perfect one it is just so sweet. When I was a little kid my favorite was Yellow Delicious….but now Royal Gala all the way!
Found the ABROSIA apple last week and it is so good! The whole family loves apples!
I grew up eating whatever mom bought but my husband insists on only Galas – and now I’m a convert!
Royal Gala apples are my current favourite but that could change by next week. There are so many fabulous varieties of apples, I have yet to try them all.
My favorite apple is the Granny Smith. Tart and tasty!
My favorite is the granny smith. I love tart things & it’s perfect, But I have an apple tree in the back yard (no idea what kind of apple) and I love them too. They are similar to a Granny Smith but have a much thinner, softer peel. These are great for apple pie -great flavor & you don’t have to peel them.
The favourite apple in our house is the Royal Gala, but we also buy Red Delicious for the horse my daughter rides 🙂
Have never tried the Red Prince but would love to my favorite is the BC Mac

Can’t go wrong with a red delicious!
I really like Granny Smith, but paulared apples that only hit the stores occasionlly, are great too.
I pretty much love ’em all, but I’m a sucker for a juicy McIntosh.
Mine was always red delicious, but then the Ambrosia’s came out and now I like them.
Honey Crisp are yum-yum … crispy without being really hard. Apples are VERY popular with my kids, because it is the only thing they are allowed to eat in front of the TV!
(the url above for red prince should be .ca)
My favorite apple is an empire & my husband’s is a granny smith.
I have tried the Red Prince and it is delicious but not everyone carries them. I tend to buy Granny Smith for the household.
My favorite and I think most tasty apple is gravenstein. It makes the best apple pie and apple sauce. It is great for baking.
We are never without Royal Gala in our fridge. My son is a very picky eater and apples are one of the few healthy foods he will eat.
When my neice was about 3 (she’s 16 now) she called Gala’s “honey apples” because they’re so sweet. We have called them that ever since.
i’m such a cortland junkie. absolutely love the flavour and the texture but it’s amazing how hard they are to find! it’s amazing how different the apples are in taste and texture. love’em….
