I really hate everything about shopping – starting with this
the minute I arrive I feel hot. I panic with how I don’t have time or patience to be there.(Later I panic again and press the panic button when I can’t find my car)
Inside is worse
sometimes I avoid this traditional shopping scene and I go to sample sales
there you find things at wholesale yes but the price you pay is the trauma of seeing dozens of jiggly women in thongs and ill fitting bras bending over to pick up things in very tight quarters
yikes. Did I add no mood lighting? Mid day with natural lighting.
It is tricky because I like to have pretty things
I just want them to magically appear.
If I am going to shop I want a new experience in a completely unexpected place. With a parking lot with loads of room
that has an “assumption of risk” sign.
and a yardman to help with the heavy things
followed by all important clipboard guy
when I say ” oh I wish I had someone at the other end to help me with these heavy things”
they act a bit like this after all (boy version)
Shopping is so much fun.

I have to say, I enjoy shopping, but I usually do it on my day off, alone, so I can take my time. I also don’t drive, so no crazy big box mall stores, which might make me insane, too!
I do conduct occasional massive online shops for end-of-season basics to stock up for the next year, though – I like that there is a better chance of finding the sale item in the size you need.

Yep, I have to vote in favour of online shopping, too. It is so much better than elbowing your way through sweaty crowds of surly people and their bored/angry/frustrated children – or mine! There were almost tears when I discovered an online retailer for my skincare stuff. Aside from emergency purchases, it’s only groceries we buy at a storefront. Join us, my friend. It’s (marginally) saner over here!

I second online shopping. Old Navy and Gap online – I have never experienced customer service as good as these. And returning/exchanging has never been easier!
And the shipping is super fast (the depot is in Brampton – my next door neighbour!)

I’m just talking standard Gap, Old Navy, RW&Co… and FOREVER 21!! For shoes, I do Aldo’s and sometimes Zappos. Often, shipping is free, and I find with some stores like Old Navy, there’s more in the sizes I need online, than in the stores. (I’m talking kids clothes, mostly.)
But in store? Get thee to a Joe Fresh – STAT. Cheap and cheerful. Yes.

send me your fave sites asap
do you find the sizing issue tricky?
Nancy says
yes, Christine, I do love when everything is laid out on the bed for BFFs to come over to see. It helps I have no time or $ to do any of this- so I notoriously buy things in 4.5 minutes without trying things on (hate change rooms, hate the time it all takes) and hold onto my things for 2o years (when you were still a baby!) until someone close to me says- umm you might want to pass that on…….

Lady, you MUST start online shopping… I’m telling you. It almost entirely keeps you feeling like you need to punch people, as you can do it in your pajamas, inside your house. It’s the better way, I swear.
Christine says
Oh see now I love shopping.
Ask anyone who knows me – no matter when or where – I always get a great parking spot.
That’s always a sure way to start a shopping day off right!
The BEST part is when you get home and lay out all your new wares and just look at all the pretty new things!
