It had to happen sooner or later.
People keep asking me with very concerned faces “How are you doing?”
The truth is I am doing just fine. I mean don’t get me wrong, given the option I would happily stay home with Roman indefinately. I have been a happy single stay at home Mom for the better part of the year but I knew that this next phase was coming.
I am so grateful to my fantastic employer and EI for allowing me nine months away from work with most of my paycheque that its hard to harbour resentment. Plus I have enough vacation time that I am only back to work three days a week until the later part of August so I get to wade into the working waters. Add to that my awesome family that is very happy to hang with my little man and crazy terrier while I am at work and overall I have to say that I am feeling more blessed then bitter. Roman gives me a happy “bye bye Mama” in the morning and an excited greeting when I return. He’s clearly quite fine with the change in situation.
I think I am in the honeymoon stage of return to work. I am seeing the work friends that I am happy to reconnect with. I have new technology upgrades to play with and I am expected to shower and dress in something other then trackpants, which is refreshing.
So for now, I am going to enjoy this happy in between place between stay at home mom and full time employee. Fully savour the last weeks of my four day weekends before the reality check that is coming for me in the Fall.

such a great way to ease back into it – and to have the comfort that he’s with your family! Awesome. I’ll admit it – I loved going back to work. I could never do the stay at home thing. I bow to women who can. We would loathe each other…:)
