Finally
dress season has arrived
fully 5 weeks later than last year
I have missed you my darlings
each one of you hold a special place in my heart
dresses are serious SLUMP BUSTERS
this is my tulip dress -Target super clearance
this black and white was bought after I had loved the Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dresses I could not afford. Bought for $35 in Florida. Score.
this was bought in a children’s department store. Perhaps for a grade 6 grad for a taller girl.(did you just say “act your age” ?) Could not resist. It looks like cupcake detailing.
This is a dating dress. It has magic powers. If I wear it there will be kissing.
this one my daughters chose for me 10 years ago when they were 4 and 6. They saw it and said “MOMMA- you have to buy this dress”. I have so many great memories in this dress. It is the one you choose when it is SOOOOO hot out. It was $29.99. That is approximately 10 cents a wear.
I love this one with capris underneath. It is 15 years old. I bought it when my oldest was a year old. One day someone said I looked like a barbie in it . Pretty sure that was intended as an insult.
My girls gave me this dress last year for Mother’s Day. We call it the Rainbow Dress. It wants to go to a wedding this summer.
You are all lovely and I can not part with any of you. I will ignore you no longer- dress season is here.

I like to wear a bra too and pretty much always do- I have two pretty pink bras and one lime green and then I feel they are pretty to show. I always prefer a dress on the hottest day to shorts!
Nancy says
yes- you will look so pretty with your gorgeous hair!
Aileen says
I am short and well endowed, so most dresses are not flattering. I do envy the tall girls during dress season! Meg, try wearing a tank top underneath so you can wear a good bra and not have all your straps showing. Strapless bras are good for a short period of time but I don’t find them comfortable to wear all day. Or, get a bra in a colour that matches the dress and has pretty straps and let them show.
Meg says
I need to wear more dresses. I am tall so dresses and flip flops should be my thing. However, I find that if you are even a little well endowed it is difficult to find a dress that works. No spaghetti straps here. Suggestions?
Christine says
I love the cupcake and the rainbow!
I just pulled mine out and cannot wait for tanned shoulders and spaghetti straps!
Nancy says
yikes
“nowhere to hide in a dress” is what I meant to say.
must read before sending
Nancy says
yes confident! half because there is nowhere to die in a dress. The confidence that comes from vulnerability!
Nancy says
good girl.
I guess it is economies of scale
Have you been to Zara? sometimes great dresses there
Nancy says
yes! I went out this morning early so quickly- a dress, a sweater and a pair of clogs. So easy. And now to see the bright sun coming up- wonderful.
Tracey says
I started wearing a flower on the lapel of my jackets lately – they feel all springy and fresh. And I can wear shoes (not boots!) for a change now… my glossy, cherry red ballet flats make me pretty happy these days!!
Amanda says
Oh, I am a hardcore dress girl, too! There’s nothing that makes me feel as confident and beautiful as a good dress. 🙂
Racheal says
I love it! I am a dress girl all the way and can’t wait to break out “the girls”. I tend to get all my dresses down south as well. Why is it so hard to find them up here?
Nancy says
what are your slump busters, grumbler?
Tracey says
I love dresses, but I don’t wear them often. I’m better with skirts and tops, due to my weird body… but I did buy a trench coat dress just the other day – I’m busy looking for a better belt to wear with it (other than the uber-terrible belt-that-comes-with-with dress option that I currently have) plus footwear is sometimes a problem. Nice to have such problems though, right Village?
I love your collection!! I want to see you in EVERY SINGLE ONE this summer. Especially the one with kissing powers. Hee!!
