Okay. I won’t lie. I kind of HATE the Grammys. I really do. The red carpet feels more like a circus than a fashion show. It’s almost as if the stars think…”How can I look the most ridiculous?” Mostly, though, I feel like there’s just far too much MUSIC at these music awards. I don’t need to see an 18-minute Aretha Franklin tribute. Although, obviously, I did enjoy watching Christina Aguilera bite it on stage at the end.
Why, yes, I DID rewind it and watch it over and over and over again.
So, when I attempt to pick my fashion FAVORITES from last night, I have a really hard time and mostly just keep picturing Lady Gaga’s pointy face and shoulders during her Express Yourself Born This Way performance.
I’m almost ashamed at how much I liked Nicole Kidman’s dress. Normally she is so Blandy McBoringson in a skin-colored dress. But this was different. And, not grammy over-the-top.
My favorite dresses, by far, was worn by Selena Gomez and Diana Agron. I thought they both looked lovely and age-appropriate. And, you know, their dresses didn’t have any gimmicks or party favors.
I also – surprisingly – kind of enjoyed Jennifer Lopez in her metallic. Last night was a big night for the metallics, but hers was one of the only ones I thought worked. (PLEASE do not get me started on Ricky Martin’s metallic crotch.)
The worst, by far, and really…this was difficult to choose because the Grammy red carpet was a SEA OF HORRIBLE OUTFIT CHOICES….but I was NOT a fan of Rihanna’s getup…
Or Katy Perry’s Victoria’s Secret Angels costume…
SIGH. I guess she gets points for not arriving in AN EGG? Only Gaga, folks, only Gaga.
So, it was a shut out for some of the Canadian artists last night like Justin Bieber and Drake (That’s Wheelchair Jimmy to most of you!), but Arcade Fire won big, even though their performance made me thankful I am not epileptic. It seems they knew they were going to win, however, since they chose to wait to storm the stage and sing A GOOD SONG after they had won their award. AWKWARD.
Not awkward, however??? The Mumford & Sons, Avett Brothers, and Bob Dylan performance. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. I also totally dug the Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow F$%%^ck You duet…because really? Who doesn’t love a good puppet?
sure *sounds* like a stroke… yikes!!
Kristabella – you may be mixing that up with a reporter who flubbed her lines reporting on the Grammys – I just finished reading all the gossipy tabs at lunch and that was the stroke report
hahaha. Kristin! Not Christina!!!

Serene Branson!
They are reporting that XTina had a stroke! HOW SAD!
I wanted to see JLo wear some tall, calf-hugging boots with that tiny dress. *ahem* And is it me, or was she looking like she couldn’t get further away from her husband on the podium? And she should never, ever speak out loud, ohmygod.
I also loved Nora Jones, Keith Urban & John Mayer’s version of Jolene… perfection.
Arcade Fire is a hugely interesting band to me. There are so many players! And they’re all so ACTIVE on stage! I think their music is all kinds of awesome too.
That muppet-show with Cee Lo Green & Gwenyth was soooooo good. LOVED it!!
I have no interest in Lady Ca-ca. Those shoulders creeped me waaaay out. Ew. No thanks.
…and the fact that she said WHITNEY HOUSTON was her inspiration for the song???!?! WTF?
Ali – you and I are SO agreeing these days on the fashion. I thought Nicole Kidman looked awesome and I usually can’t stand her. I really loved it. And the Dylan performance with all my future husbands was outstanding!!! JLO too – again normally not a fan – I loved it especially when Mark was not in the picture. I also really liked Kelly Osbourne’s dress – hmmm weird. Rihanna was ridic and while I really love Gaga’s voice – I’m sick of her schtick. Didn’t you think it was Express Yourself with cones on shoulders instead of boobs???
