Friday Favorites – Overdoor Pocket Bag

February 4, 2011 by jenbshaw

Overdoor Pocket Bags (otherwise known as overdoor shoe bags)

Of all the various organizers I have in my house, these are my favorites.
By far.
Until recently these over-the-door bags were marketed mainly for shoes. I have to say I was ahead of the curve as far as finding other uses for them. I wager that I could find a use for one of these in every room of the house.
Bedroom: Obviously shoes, but also other accessories like small purses and wallets. You could also use them to store socks and underwear if you are short on drawer space.
Bathroom: The pockets are the perfect size for extra toiletry items such as toothbrushes, razors, soaps and other small items.
Baby/Kids room: I use them to hold extra bottles of lotion and baby wash right now. For older kids they are great for toy storage especially dress up items.
Kitchen: Perfect for odd shaped utensils like wine openers, cookie cutters and large serving utensils. Could also be used to store food items such as sauce packets, spices or decorative baking supplies.
Closets: I have one of these in every non-clothes closet in my house. I store things like hats and mittens in our hall closet.
Don’t limit yourself to just doors though. The great thing about these pocket organizers is that they come in all sorts of fabrics and could be hung directly on the wall. I use a clear pocket organizer in our utility room to hold pet supplies, a few small tools and lightbulbs.

These pocket organizers really are one of the most versatile tools for organizing all over your home.

As an organization freak I love the idea of these pocket bags. I got one before from an Avon catalogue, but it only came in one design. The fabric one in the photo is nice! I’d love to get some of those – a trip to Loews is in order!

There are Lowes stores in Canada? They beat Target here? WTF.
I love the fabric one too. Great idea for hats and mitts which we have exploding all over or house.

I’ve been keeping my eye open for a nice fabric one, because my usual issue with these is the plasticiness (what? it could be a word), so now I have to run to Lowe’s and see if I can find that!

I got the fabric one at Lowes. It hangs on the back of my son’s bedroom door.
