As you probably gathered from my previous post – I love Christmas.
I love everything about it. Everything. I have especially loved watching Oprah’s favourites things – for TWO days!! I think I was most impressed by how beautifully her studio was decorated because really – the sparkly Uggs? Um. No.
Much of the stuff I could do without although I’d take the Volkswagon, Coach bag and the Lululemons – which will likely double in price thanks to the tag that will now read “As seen on Oprah’s Favorite Things!”

It got me thinking about all the things I love about the holidays. The little things that make me happy. Unfortunately I can’t give any of my faves away, but I can at least tell you about them.
The first indication for me that the holiday season is upon us (besides the Christmas decorations appearing in the stores one week before Halloween) is the Tim Hortons holiday cup.
The first one I get every year makes me deliriously happy. This years isn’t my favourite design (I liked last years blue, skating scene) – but I still love that there’s a winter theme to it.
Nothing tastes as good in the holiday cup as a holiday drink. I have been enjoying the Candy Cane hot chocolate as a treat to myself. Not too often though, as it is pretty rich. It was the perfect beverage to enjoy as I set the tree up on Sunday.
In keeping with the beverage theme – one of my all time favourite drinks ever is one that I can only get between November and January.
Canada Dry Cranberry Ginger Ale. It’s the only time of year that I get pimples because it’s the only time of year that I drink pop. Or alcohol. A small splash of lemon vodka in my cran-gingy and Irish is one happy Mama!

I discovered this next seasonal treat last year at the Real Canadian Superstore. I got a bit of flack from some friends for introducing these to them because they are pretty addicting. But seriously? OMG. Go get some! They are on sale this week for $4.00 (reg, $8.00)
Yep. I took a bite to take this fancy photo. I then went on to eat several more pieces. Holy YUM.

There are a few seasonal things that I love that will not make my arse expand. For instance this year I realized how much I love glitter balls. Yes – I said it. Glitter balls!
I found these tree ornaments and I am in love with them. They remind me of Dorothy’s shoes and they make my Christmas tree sparkle brilliantly.

If you come to my house you will likely be met with one of 3 scents from Bath & Body Works limited holiday collection. I love their candles (Amreen does too!). Most likely I’ll be burning my favourite – Frosted Cranberry, but sometimes I like to change it up with my next favourite – Snow Apple Mint or when I want to switch it up even more, Winter Candy Apple. Just like the Tims cups – I get giddy when I see these appear in the store at the end of October!!
And the last thing I’ll add started off as something I kept all to myself but decided to share the love with my kids. My friend Kerri and her sister, Tricia own an amazing line of green spa products called SpaSisters and I have fallen in love with their bath bombs. My absolute favourite is the Lemon Chiffon. A close second is the Green Tea & Lemon Grass. They have a kids line of bath products that are all natural and safe for the most sensitive of skins. They even make mini bath bombs for kids and this holiday season they created a new Candy Cane mini bath bomb for little ones (vanilla with a hint of mint). I was at a SpaSisters party this past Sunday and purchased all of the stock she had there for stocking stuffers.
So….there’s a little snapshot of some of my most favourite holiday things.
Please share yours!!

Also, Eggnog, store bought for virgin, and homemade for the “real” eggnog….yum!
Decorating our tree on the solstice with real candles on our tree.
Christmas carols.
I used to go all Martha Stewart at Christmas (and Halloween) but now I’m too time strapped. I’d love to find a little more time for decorating, but not until December.

S’okay Nancy – I’ll be here waiting to share the joy!
Ali – please let us know when you finally experience sponge toffee!
Nancy says
sponge toffee, Ali, cannot be explained it must be experienced. Suffice to say it is the only thing my mom won’t share with any of us.
Thanks for the list Christine. You are adorable with the Christmas thing but you know I cannot join you in the glee until DEC 1st. Then I become wacky.

sponge toffee?
PLEASE TO EXPLAIN.

Dude. You said “balls.” *snickers*
I love the holidays too – sometimes I don’t love ALL of the work involved, but when it all comes together, it really is the most wonderful time of the year. (Whoa. Who am I?)
