Campbell’s Healthy Request Microwavable Bowls

November 26, 2008 by Jen

As you know, we never feature a product on urbanmoms.ca unless it’s been given the seal of approval by our Go2Girlz product testing panel. And we’re thrilled to be able to bring you another innovative product that will help you – as a busy mom – make your life a little bit easier.

Campbell’s Canada recently sent 25 lucky testers and their families samples of Campbell’s® Healthy Request® Microwavable Bowls and Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® Made with Whole Grain Crackers to try out in their homes. The verdict? They loved them!

Why? Well, first and foremost, our mom testers loved the healthy ingredients and Campbell Canada’s commitment to reduced sodium in its soup line. Did you know that as a leader in proactive sodium reduction, Campbell Canada is now serving its family of soups with the equivalent of 30 million fewer teaspoons of salt compared to five years ago?  Campbell is focused on providing more positive nutrition such as vegetables, whole grain pasta or brown rice, as well as essential Omega-3 fatty acids.

Here’s what our testers sampled:

Campbell’s
® Healthy Request Microwavable Bowls:

These tasty bowls are low in fat, trans-fat free and include Omega-3s, which is an essential fat the body needs but can’t produce on its own. We all know the importance of getting enough of the so-called good fats, while reducing saturated, trans and other ‘bad fats’. They also each contain only 480 mg of sodium per 250 mL serving – among the lowest sodium varieties of any Campbell’s soup. They also contain whole grain pasta or rice, all of which is why these bowls carry Health Canada’s Heart Health Claim. Now that’s something you can feel good about feeding your family.

These bowls come in six delicious varieties: Tuscan Minestrone, Italian Wedding, Fiesta Vegetable and Black Bean, Thai Chicken Vegetable, Hearty Spiced Lentil and Herbed Chicken with Brown Rice.

And what’s a bowl of soup without some crackers?

Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® Made with Whole Grain crackers:

Our testers were also treated to Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® Made with Whole Grain crackers – yes, you read that right – whole grain! With all the delicious goldfish cheddar cheese flavour that we love, Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® Made with Whole Grain crackers contain zero Trans fat, no preservatives, no artificial colours or flavours and are low in saturated fat, while also being a source of fiber– making them a simple, wholesome and tasty snack that we can feel confident serving our kids

So, what did the Go2Girlz have to say? Here are a few excerpts, but be sure to check below for more comments!

I have just joined Go2Girlz and am looking forward to hopefully being a product tester. I just wanted to comment on the Whole Grain Goldfish and Campbell’s Healthy Request soups – I’ve not been a tester on the site as I mentioned but both are family favourites of myself, husband and our children. We lead a busy life and I like to know there is a healthy alternative to fast-food that is not only good for you but tastes delicious AND has less salt than the other high-salt foods out there.

I guess I am the only one that didn’t like the one I tried – Thai Vegetable. It was very metallic tasting. Maybe just this one flavour….but I probably wouldn’t purchase a Campbell’s bowl again. I’ll stick with the Chunky and classic campbells soups.

Thank you sooo much for the opportunity to test this product… I’ve had a really rotten fall (my hubby lost his job and still hasn’t found a new one, thanks to economy) and the box of samples actually arrived on my birthday 😀 Fantastic timing on this treat!
My kids gobbled up the goldfish crackers in no time flat, they are a perennial favorite in our house. I’m pleased that they came out with a whole grain option, so I can feel even better about them as a healthy snack.
I LOVE the soup bowls, they’re a healthy, low calorie meal on the run and I’m pleased to see that the packaging is all recyclable 😀 I’ll definitely be purchasing these myself even though I generally avoid “convenience” foods.
    Thanks again!!!

I loved every flavour and it was so convenient to take to work and reheat in the microwave. The kids enjoyed them too. I have purchased more and will continue to do so. They are a good portion size too.

Thank you so much for this opportunity!
My family really enjoyed these new convenient campbells soups! My children LOVE my homemade soup and now after trying the new campbells soups, they are beggingme for more campbells soups. All the soups had a hearty and
belly-warming flavor. I found they taste better than the old campbell soups that contained more salt. What I also loved was the conveniency of the packaging. You take off the metal lid and recap it and in less than 2 mins in the microwave, you can serve a delicious soup that is better than homemade and perhaps even healthier!! Double thumbs up to campbells!! We have bought so many since testing them!

While these soups are very convenient and super easy for my husband or kids to grab for their lunches, they would enjoy them even more if there was a broader variety of flavours to choose from. They do all agree though that they are a must have for those days that they didn’t have time to make their lunch.
    Thanks for the great product

I had a wonderful experience in the Campbell’s Health Request Study. My family and I really enjoyed the soup and crackers…it was easy, quick to make and most importantly…..delicious and nutritious! Thanks again.

I don’t know who was more excited about the soups and crackers, me or my kids! Happily, the niftiness of the soup packaging was matched equally by the home-made taste and hearty servings. And how can you go wrong with Goldfish? The whole-grain crackers didn’t taste any different than the regular version. Both winners.

My family asked me to buy more of the Campbell’s great soup. The soups are healthy and have hearty ingredients. The soups are delicious and nutritious, and low in soduim. My fussy six year old daughter Loved the Pepperidge Farm Whole Wheat crackers.
We have added these products to our shopping lists.

The Campbell’s Healthy Request Microwavable Bowls were so delicious. When I first opened the bowl and saw all the veggies and grains, I thought I would have to add a tonne of salt to make it edible and taste good. To my surprise and delight the soup (Fiesta Vegetable and Black Bean) was not only really tasty, but I couldn’t believe that it was good for me and my family. It’s a great addition to any meal on a cold winter’s day. Hearty and Healthy. I will definitely be adding these soups to my grocery list. It doesn’t hurt that it is also low in sodium. An added bonus.
Absolutely no salt needed!! Good for the blood pressure 😉

I also, but my kids especially enjoyed participating in this study. I shouldn’t have been, but was surprised that most of the children really liked this product as much as my own kids did. Part of this I think was due to the packaging. kids love single servings and the little bit of independence that comes with making thier own.

Wow, thank you for the opportunity to try these great products! First of all, I think my children and their playmates ate the entire package of whole grain Goldfish crackers in one go, although I did get to sample one or two and they are delicious.
Secondly, my whole family loved the soups. Our favourite (all four of us…children included…yes they even loved the vegetables!) was the Tuscan Minestrone. Right from the first spoonfull we were all amazed, saying “mmm!” These soups are so flavourful, and have none of that processed, salty taste you might expect from a microwave bowl.
The soups are convenient, DELICIOUS and nutritious. I’ve purchased them no less than three times since we received our sample. They’re a staple in work and school lunches for us now.
    Once again, thank you!
