Hi Becca, I enjoyed reading about all of your renovation ideas from the big-ticket overhauls to the small changes – every little bit helps your home come together, so I think it’s perfectly reasonable to want a well-organized garage! I also really love the Earth Corian® countertops you posted about; it’s definitely a warm, cozy color. Good luck! Christine from DuPont

I have no idea what to do with our guest bedroom. I feel like I need to figure out a way to get more storage out of my house, because the whole guest closet is filled with Christmas stuff. I don’t know where else to put all of it. I’d really REALLY like to re-do our garage with some overhead storage and put it all up there. OH! And I want a bike in there too hanging off the wall! A bike that I ride all the time with my little baby in tow- and I’m tan and skinny and rich and I can ride up whole mountains with my hair still looking perfect while I drink my bottle of water! Okay that was really more of a life dream than a house dream, but still. Heh.

We rent, but we just moved to a house after being in a TINY apartment for 5 years. It says something about how tiny it was that our new 1 bedroom terrace cottage feels spacious, haha! Anyway, I love home improvement dreaming 🙂 right now most of my plans are things like finding the parfect quilt cover, which is hard because we have a king size quilt and those covers are expensive. I’m also in the process of putting pictures up which I want to be a mix of my own art and other things. I just need more frames, more hooks and more time to organize it all. My other project is hand-making a crochet blanket to go on our new sofa.
I think my dream house would have something like yours, I love floorboards although after helping some friends do their own floors I’d want to pay a professional to do it. I like neutral walls with maybe a wallpaper feature wall, and lots of framed art. I love plain pine or white wood furniture that a lot of Scandanavian houses have.
I hope you can get at least some of your upgrades done for your birthday!

I LOVE seeing what other people would love to do to their homes. Please do more posts like this.
I have so many dreams for my house. It’s beige…very very beige. I would love to add some big and bold color to it! I obviously need some built-ins in my office…white. I TOTALLY want white wood.

I just moved in with my boyfriend who lives in his deceased great grandmother’s old home, and whose idea of decoration is zombie movie posters. (Although, I’m not much better, my idea of decorating is dance photoraphy, Disney princess coloring book pages, and pictures of my friends.)
I’d love to redo rooms and make them look nicer and have an actual “look” but that’s neither in our budget nor a possibility in the home we live in. I guess I’ll have to make due for now, luckily, I’m low maintenance — the one thing that is a necessity for me I HAVE — lots of built into the wall bookshelves to house my library!

Oh my goodness, lady – this post comes JUST as I’m in a heap of tears about the lack of “finishing” going on in our house. I’ve been tres patient, but I believe I’ve come to the end of my sanity. My list is so very long… We own a duplex, and have spent loads of time and money fixing the other apartment, and it’s my turn dammit, and I want it NOW!!
More than anything, we need to repaint. (I’ve only been waiting on our painter since July, but as of this morning, we’ve given him the boot and are exploring other options. So far, we have someone who can start as early as LATE NOVEMBER. Ack!!) *sob*
After paint, we will work on our new dressing room – I know it sounds extravagant – and the PAX closet system is on the floor in boxes just WAITING for the paint to be on the walls. And I know all the finishing touches will just take YEARS… oy.
Le sigh. There are certainly worse problems to have… but MAN I hate waiting!! My birthday in in November…
PS – getting organized, in garages or wherever makes me so very happy too!! It’s not lame at all.
