Attention: Hockey Moms

February 2, 2010 by vweiss

wendel.jpgI bet you saw the title and said to yourself “yup..that’s me!! I should read this”!!

I have never been a hockey mom but I have heard stories.

Stories about gigantic bags, expensive equipment, laundry, the TIME, the commitment, the hockey camps, the hockey weekends, the $$$. Not to mention that some families have a van JUST so they have room for all the hockey bags.

So when I had the opportunity to interview Wendel Clark I said ‘hey I bet a few moms would love to hear about his mom”.

I met up with Wendel Clark at his new restaurant, Wendel Clark’s Classic Grill and Sports Lounge in Oakville for their grand opening.

Here are a few questions I asked him:

Vicky: What was your favorite pre-game meal your mom made you?

Wendel: We had three hot meals a day. Bacon and eggs in the morning, a hot lunch and a hot dinner.

Vicky: What was your favorite post-game meal your mom made for you?

Wendel: We just had regular meals.

Vicky: Did you have a ice pad in your backyard?

Wendel: No but we skated on ponds!!

Vicky: Do you have a favorite arena?

Wendel: I like arenas like the King City Arena.

Vicky: Was it your mom or your dad that was more instrumental in your hockey career?

Wendel: Both!! My mom use to drive me at 2 p.m. for hockey practice and I remember coming home at 2 a.m. It was 100 km. each way!

Vicky: Did your mom use Tide or Sunlight for all your hockey gear?

Wendel: Tide

Vicky: Any advise for Hockey families?

Wendel: Show up and have fun. Worry less about the politics.

I then shook his hand, and thanked him for his time. I also asked if I could take a photo and get his autograph!!

Then I had a glass of wine to celebrate my first interview!!. I hope to return to check out their martinis for a girls nite out!!

I felt the following quote from the study summed things up rather nicely: “The increasing prevalence of chronic conditions and an aging population is driving a more holistic approach that contemplates the whole person and not one specific disease state or acute episode…”

Hi there, ive recently just been shocked at my electricity bills lately, paying way too much. I think solar energy is the way to go, easy to set up and pretty self explanatory. Well, Cheerio!

Many people like myself have searched for several years to find a cheap affordable solution using solar panels for your residential home. Unfortunately the cost has always outweighed the benefit of being off grid. The upfront capital investment in solar panels would take 20 years to succesfully pay off and maybe more. Deep cycle batteries …
