Yup. It was a good week in the land of Weight Watchers online memberships! I lost a further 2.2 pounds, meaning I hit my first WW milestone: 5 pounds (or more) of weight loss. Woot! I got a lovely little gold star (virtual, of course) that smiles at me every time I open the WW app on my iPhone. Yay, me!
So to date that brings me to, let’s see here: a total of 5.6 pounds down in four weeks. Again: yay, me! I have nothing but good things to say about this program, which is both surprising and not at the same time. It’s not surprising because – duh – I did Weight Watchers before (very successfully) and lost over 50 pounds. It is surprising, because I was always a firm advocate of going to meetings in order to be truly successful. But then again, maybe because I’ve already been there, done that I don’t need the meetings as much? Or maybe because the online tools are so good? I don’t know. Either way, what I know is that it works, I feel good, and I’m still losing weight. That all makes me happy.
So while I was getting ready to write this post I was trolling around on the internet looking for good images to use (mostly because I am sitting here in sweats and no makeup and therefore am in no position to be taking pictures of myself for a post!) and I found lots of images of current and former WW spokespeople. And that got me to thinking: sure, it’s a good gig and all, being the “face” of Weight Watchers, but how do you feel when they approach you? Take, for instance, the beautiful Jennifer Hudson. Now she did have a somewhat public struggle with her weight, and she does look totally fab now, but how do you think the call with her agent went when they first approached her?
Agent: Oh hi Jen, I have this – ahh – interesting opportunity to discuss.
JH: Really? What is it? Dreamgirls 2?
Agent: Well…ah…no. It’s Weight Watchers. They want you to go on their program, lose weight, and then be their new spokesperson.
JH: [silence]
But seriously – it doesn’t matter how the conversation went, because hell, Jen be lookin’ awesome! Take a look at her when she won her Oscar – not that she was even very fat at all:
But now? Wow. That’s all I can say. She looks so amazing in those Weight Watchers commercials – I swear that’s half the reason I joined myself!
Although I must say that her shoes look a bit weird to me.
But Jen’s not alone in her endorsement of Weight Watchers. Who can forget the inimitable Duchess of York, HRH Sarah Ferguson (still who I think of when people talk about Fergie):
And they also had Jenny McCarthy:
And (you’ll get a hoot out of this one, I promise) Lynn Redgrave! Waaaaay back in the day (although I’m sad to say I do remember it):
“Try it. You’ll diet.” Hilarious!

Interesting perspective on Jennifer Hudson from my taller-and-heavier-than-average 11-year-old who said she felt sad that Jennifer Hudson wasn’t happy with her weight the way she was and that now she doesn’t look like “a real person” the way she used to.

@Kath – Congratulations on reaching your first goal!! I also have a friend who started Weight Watchers a few weeks ago and is doing well. I’ve got to admit that I’m a cynic and although J. Hudson looks amazing, not sure that was enough to convince me. But seeing friends and family succeed is motivating! I need to get my (ever increasing) butt in gear.

Really, Nancy?! I think she looks fabulous! Have you seen the commercials? Wow.
Congratulations, Kath. And slow and steady is the way to go!

well done on the 2.2! You are doing so well! JH looks beautiful shrink wrapped in that outfit – but the look on her face is not good. She might be starving? She looks like she lost something more than pounds……..
