I am one of those people who needs to leave everything in order to truly relax. As my office is in my living room, the constant pull of work is always only a few feet away. This allows me a ton of freedom and flexibility but also means that I am “on” all of the time. Send me an email and I’ll respond night or day. Require some information on a Sunday afternoon and I’ll simple pop into my office and get it done.
What this means is that in order to truly take a break and catch my breath I need to remove myself physically. I need to get out of Dodge and get as far away from the temptation to work as possible.
So, at the end of the holidays that is exactly what I did. My family and I booked our Transat Holidays vacation, packed our bags and spent 7 days and nights in sunny Punta Cana at the beautiful Melia Caribe Tropical.
I admit it, I worked. I responded to emails, followed up on a few things and kept in touch. But it all seems a little less stressful from here:
My husband and son in our poolside cabana.
While your family enjoys this:
The ropes course at the resort (they have ziplining and a rock climbing wall too!)
And this:
Pool fun at the private pool for Royal Service members.
And a little of this:
Birthday tennis game for me TEN year old girl!
And, of course, we all enjoyed a little of this:
The silky smooth sand and bustling beach of Punta Cana.
It was a much needed change of scenery and a fabulous way to take a break from the constant pull of my home-based office!
Are you like me? Do you need to “getaway” in order to “get away”?
