I have the good fortune of doing a lot of travelling. Wherever I end up I usually spend my vacation time in a hotel or resort. Most of the time these experiences are amazing. But I have to admit that a week away sharing a room with young kids and eating out for every meal has its challenges. Plus, on a girlfriend getaway or traveling with another family it would be great to have space where we could all hang out together.
When travel with kids one hotel room for a whole week has its challenges.
Often when staying at a resort or hotel I will try and work with what we have to make a little breakfast or light lunch in our room so we are not stuffing ourselves at the restaurant or buffet at every meal. With our family, when we can afford to, we try and get a suite so we at least have a separate area for the kids if we need a break but this is not always possible. This type of travel can be limiting, expensive and stressful and can even hold some families back from taking a family vacation.
If this describes you, look no further! I have discovered and experienced the perfect solution.
Recently I travelled to Kissimmee, Florida on a girl’s getaway and instead of staying at a hotel or resort we stayed in a luxury vacation home with Global Resort Homes. This house had everything you could possibly need or want for your vacation experience. Plus, it was spotless, beautifully decorated and gigantic. It included a fully functional kitchen, 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 games rooms, a pool and hot tub, making for a perfect home base. These homes are conveniently located close to the parks and other attractions so we could venture out but, when we needed a break, we could come back to the house where we had stocked up on food and beverages, and we would lounge by the pool. These communities also incorporate resort-like elements such as larger community pools, golf courses, restaurants and bars.
If you are travelling with young children a home like this could make your life much easier and your vacation much more enjoyable. The kids can nap or head to bed early and the adults or older kids don’t have to worry about keeping them up. While I was there with my gal pals there was plenty of space for everyone to find their own spot or to gather in the spacious common areas.
Add to all of this that just minutes away are all the local theme parks, the massive Premium Outlet Mall and the historic downtown area of Kissimmee. You will be surprised to find streets filled with shops and restaurants with tons of character including the atmospheric, Savion’s Place , the perfect stop for a girls’ night out or a romantic dinner.
There is so much more to this part of Florida then we usually hear about. I was surprised to find so many hidden treasures, so much local history and tons of character. With our relaxing and spacious home as our base we were able to explore the area in ways we likely wouldn’t have had we stayed at a hotel or resort.

Awesome! Not many of us western peeps get down to Florida, but I know friends who’ve done the same thing in California and loved it. Great idea.

What a great idea! We were thinking about taking the kids somewhere this winter and this would totally fit the bill. Your timing couldn’t have been better!
