~fabulous cupcake workshop at art camp- thanks to visiting guest EMILY DANZIGER
This week my art campers have brought me all kinds of laughter and joy. We have had some major chats.
The other night I asked them- What do you love about your parents?
1. “That they do not pretend to have any kind of dignity”
“Please explain” I said, laughing and wondering that this might be me too!
“Well they dress up for everything in costumes and are over the top about everything. They have no problem making complete fools of themselves”
2. “I love the sense of humour my parents have. It is different and unique and has given me a better sense of humour myself.”
3. ” I love that they have my back, always, no matter what and no matter when”
4. “I love that they make great choices where I am concerned and themselves too”
This is not a clever post as perhaps I am just stating the obvious but it just goes to show that these things are felt deeply by our children. These kids answered quickly and without hesitation as I will do now about my own-
What I love most about my dad is his sense of humour, quiet confidence and the twinkle in his eye. What I love most about my mom is her energy, style and love of life. (Ok, three things each- you know I am a chronic rule breaker)
Your turn – What do/did you love most about your parents? And are you bringing that into your own life and parenting in full force?
Jason says
I love both my parents because they are unapologetic about the mistakes they have made and still both believe in love even though it failed them as a couple.
