We’ve always known how lucky we are, having all four grandparents living no more than a 10 minute drive from us.
We’ve never paid for a babysitter. We get out regular for kid-free nights with friends. We are very fortunate.
Last night I blow dried my hair (I never do that), I slapped on some makeup (I rarely do that) then Sean and I headed downtown with some of our favourite people to watch a Marlies Leafs game. Afterward we walked over to the Reservoir Lounge.
We spent a couple hours there having a few bevvies and doing a bit of dancing. It was a super fun night out.
The best part about our super fun night out was coming home to an empty house and waking up to no kids. Well I did. Sean had to be out of the house by 6:45 to get Cam to hockey practice for 7:30am.
So it was just me, my coffee and Coronation Street. Bliss.
We get regular nights out but we pay for the late nights with a bed full of the kids early the next day. Wanting breakfast and such.
The nerve…
Cuyler does not like sleeping over anywhere therefore sleepovers for him are few and far between, but when all three go away for the night – it’s the best thing ever. Waking up in my own bed, not needing to do anything for anyone.
Those small breaks are so necessary. I’m grateful to our parents for providing those slices of respite.
How do you carve out time away from the daily grind of life?
