I love my neighbourhood. It is urban and busy. The houses and lots are smaller but the community is close knit and I really appreciate being a part of it.
Sometimes I forget how lucky we are but last night was a perfect reminder of why this neighbourhood is so fabulous. Halloween in my ‘hood consists of crowds of people, kids and adults in the streets dressed up in costume, sitting on porches, moms and dads sipping their “hot cocoa” from a Thermos as they wave and have a quick chat while their children run from house to house. Kids see their friends and the houses are decked out beyond belief.
My 12 year-old son went out for what I think is likely his last year. I have a few more years with my daughter but I know that I will really miss this community event. So, I took some pics for posterity and here are a few of my faves:
Ahhhh! This was on one of our neighbours yards.
Enter if you dare! Love this house!
That was a gorilla shouting from the roof!
At this house you had to SCREAM into the microphone to get candy!
A prisoner, disco grandpa, and a spy kid ready for some Halloween fun!
My girl, the Spy Kid and her pal, the Evil Queen, on the hunt!
Disco Grandpa ready to shell out!
What about you, is your community special? How so?
