Cuyler wins. kind of
We started talking about Hurricane Sandy on Sunday. Just very subtle preparation for the kids to expect a very windy night and probably no power for a little while.
I replaced the batteries in each of our lanterns so they could act as nightlights if the power did go out.
I charged all of the electronics – ipad, ipods, Leapster, DS, portable dvd players – so there would be something to occupy them if the power went out.

I was prepared for a long night of nervous, awake kids. The wind was whipping and howling at a steady pace. The power was flickering off every 5 or 10 minutes and the beeping smoke detectors drove me nuts. The power finally went off around midnight. Not sure what time it came back on at.
Cam and Eva slept in my bed. Sean slept in Cuy’s room.
The kids slept through it all.

…or so we thought…
Sean woke up around 4am to find Cuyler playing on his ipod.
He had no idea how long he had been on it for. I’m guessing a LONG time.
This was Cuyler this morning at 9:45am. Late for school. I could not get him out of bed.

I was more than prepared for Cuyler to be anxious, crying and miserable during the bad weather. He wasn’t at all.
Instead he’s crying and miserable because he is so tired from playing games all night long. He may or may not go to school he’s that miserable.
I’m cursing the electronics that I thought would help get us through the night. Now I gotta get through the day.

i was wondering how he was faring last night. it wasn’t too loud but it was definitely howling.
