Four full weeks on Weight Watchers. Reflecting, this is what I see:
Week One:
I was very eager. Totally onboard. I researched recipes, tracked everything, ran three times in the week and resisted all cravings. I lost 5lbs
Week Two:
I started to feel temptation creep in so I looked to Weight Watchers for tips on managing my environment and identifying my triggers. I rid my cupboards of trigger foods and found some options for my most vulnerable time; late afternoon. I ran 3 times in the week.
I lost 2lbs
My destination after running in the rain!
Week Three:
I found this week tough. I was busy and off with my tracking. I hurt my hip so I had to walk instead of run. Work was stressful and hockey playoffs had started for the kids. Despite this I stuck pretty close to the program and avoided totally blowing it but was away at a hockey tournament on the weekend and had some wine.
I lost 0lbs
Week Four:
This week was a bit better. I began tracking again and because my routine was back on track I found it easier to stay on track. The weather was not conducive to running but I did manage to get a good walk in twice and spent one day doing nothing but shoveling. I ate fast food one day with the kids but planned for it and used the Weight Watchers online tools to make sure I allocated my points properly.
I lost 2lbs
TOTAL Lost After 4 Weeks: 9lbs
Not too shabby. I am happy with this because I know that losing 0.5-2 lbs per week is a healthy and sustainable way to lose weight. I also feel that I am doing more than just losing weight. I am thinking about my life and cravings and making the necessary adjustments to set me up for a lifetime of good habits.
For this last 10lbs the key will be to make sure I continue to be active. Starting my day off 3 times per week with a walk or run puts my head in the right space and also is critical in maintaining my weight loss once I have reached my goal.
In addition, I have been paying especially close attention to portions because I am going away for a getaway to Barbados next week with a friend and I want to have a good sense of what my meals should look like. I have also already looked into the gym and exercise facilities at the resort as I plan to do something active every day. I don’t want to risk what I have already accomplished and I want to know that, in future, I can make travel and a healthy lifestyle work. I will let you know how it goes in my next post!
Beach ready toes! We’ll see how my eating and exercise goes while away.
