Are you looking forward to seeing Henry Cavill as Superman as much as I am? Because you should. You really should.
Expected to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, the film is produced by “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan. It also stars Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman’s dad, Kevin Costner as his adoptive dad, Diane Lane as his adoptive mom and Amy Adams as love interest Lois Lane.
After looking at the trailer, I think we can expect a few things:
– It’s a darker pallette than the Superman from the 1970’s that many of us have seen as kids. This isn’t Christopher Reeve’s Superman. The result is the film seem to have a feel reminiscent of Nolan’s Batman movies and I like it. A lot!
– We see his human side. The movie may be called “Man of Steel” but the emphasis may be on the man himself, not just his powers. He’s a hero who doesn’t fit in.
– Father-son-relationships abound. The trailer is narrated by Russell Crowe as Superman’s biological dad. And there are glimpses of Kevin Costner too as his loving adoptive farmer father. You just know these two men will have a huge impact on shaping our superhero.
– Superman is a saviour. He’s fighting for a noble cause on behalf of all mankind. As Jor-El says:
“You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They’ll race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.”
I’m excited. How ’bout you? Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think!
