Okay my kids are seriously excited for the upcoming launch of Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8. It’s also just announced that there will be special events coming for fans in Toronto and Montreal.
Nintendo of Canada will host Mario’s Canadian Karting Day on Saturday, May 31st from 11 am to 5 pm (local time). The first 500 fans ages 5 and older will be able to test their go-karting skills in real life while competing for Spiny Shell trophies. Everyone will have a chance to win Mario Kart 8 prizes throughout the day (while supplies last) and participation is FREE.
Attendees will get a chance to turn their world upside down and take their picture in the Mario Kart 8 Anti-Gravity Photo Booth. Toronto fans will also get a the chance to meet 15 year old Eastern Canadian ROTAX Kart Champion Jeff Kingsley. By the way, this young driving sensation from Port Hope, Ontario has recently been signed to 2014 Formula 1600 program with Exclusive Autosports. Although he’s too young to hold a license to drive on the street, Kingsley is considered one of Canada’s rising stars in the racing circuit.
The events will be held at the following go-karting tracks on Saturday, May 31st:
Toronto: 401 Mini-Indi Go Carts (37 Stoffel Drive) 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Montreal: Action 500 Montreal (5592 Rue Hochelaga) 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Canadian fans will also get a sneak peek of the game and a chance to play at select Best Buy stores across Canada on Saturday, May 24 before it’s official release on May 30th. Hands on demonstrations between 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm (local time) and the first 50 players will receive a voucher to a local karting track for a free race (while supplies last).
