Today may be Earth Day – but this book will provide talking points for a whole year.
E is for the Environment

This book contains a handful of stories about a pair of children who begin to learn about ways they can help the earth, and how they and their parents teach each other. The book is, truly, to earnest and purpose-written to be a good straight-forward read, but it’s not really intended that way, either, so I can forgive it that.
It is, instead, a terrific book for teaching. Each short chapter is about two pages long, and is framed almost like a little case study, with a chance to guess at the (generally pretty obvious) result, as well as a few questions at the end designed to bring the point home a little further, create connections, and get some creative ideas flowing.
For teachers and parents who are looking to start talking with kids about the environment and conservation or want to give examples to get kids thinking, this is a perfect tool.
