Many many years ago, (i.e 19 years ago), I worked as an assistant marketing director at Bayview Village Shopping Centre.
It was a 12 week contract that kinda fell on my lap.
The pace was fast and furious and it was indeed a great experience to be behind the scenes of fashion shows, direct mail pieces, etc.
Fast forward a few years:
When our son was born, Bayview Village was our “go to mall” on a Sunday. We live only a few miles away and we liked that it was “small”. (This is in 1997 – pre: expansion). We would have a coffee and our son would run around.
I’m not kidding…we went there every Sunday for about a year.(with another family….who is reading this blog entry)
Fast forward a few more years:
I’m now a sales rep and I have an account at Bayview Village. I go there every 10 days to see if they need replenishing. I really try to stay focused (i.e NOT TO GO SHOPPING) but last week, I had a bit of time and ran into Blacks as I’m looking for a new camera.
On my way out, I passed by a window of a shoe store featuring new fall shoes.
I stopped.
I WENT IN.
I looked at the shoes closer and they are BEAUTIFUL and $350.
Off I went – out of the store.
I tweeted “cant stop thinking about the Stuart Weizman shoes I just saw at Bayview Village”.
Wouldnt you know I got a tweet back from @BVShops.
She knew exactly what shoes I was tweeting about.
Fast Forward:
I get an invitation to go to the Fashion Insiders Preview Party. Naturally I said “yes”.
I enjoyed a lovely drink, a few delicious appetizers, had a little make-up applied by the ever famous Brian Bailey (who was introducing his new line of foundation, and had the opportunity to meet the face behind @BVShops. (the assistant marketing director).
My relationship with Bayview Village continues…I really do love that mall, even if I can’t afford the shoes.
P.S the Haute Summer Sales takes place July 21 – 25th.

That’s like saying because phelps works out in a huge, olympic size pool he should justify wasting all that extra water by working for the peace corp helping third world countries build wells for better water.

how bouts we web site moderators get rid of crappy comments? Certain up-to-date news information niche sites I tour that enable comments; the comments are so infested with trolls and crap, I do not make an effort checking the comments. Don’t hesitate to eliminate the crap. None will miss it; and also slice out the tangents several go on.

I also loved Bayview Village back in the day. Small, no escalators, not too bright and great stores. Great post!!!
