A Day in the Life of a Sales Rep:
7:50 a.m…wake up (not an minute earlier) and scramble to wake up both kids.
8:15 a.m…my daughter and I get into the car to do carpool
8:35 a.m…drop off the kids at school
8:45 a.m..visit No Frills to see if they need an order
8:55 a.m…visit Shoppers Drug Mart to see if they need an order
9:00 a.m…proceed to Tim Hortons to get a coffee
9:05 a.m…visit Metro to see if they need an order
9:20 a.m…when I get to the car, check twitter, check email, check twitter again
9:30 a.m…visit another independent retailers to see if they need an order..this could be Brunos FIne Foods, Leslieville Cheese Market, McEwans etc.
My day continues…..more stores, more coffee!!
In between sales calls I try to find a bathroom. LOL. This is about the only problem with this job. You are constantly looking for a bathroom.
But the good news is:
My day is different every day.
I have no politics to deal with.
I have no staff dynamics to deal with
I have no office to go to every morning.
I have no set schedule.
I don’t need a huge wardrobe as no one sees me regurarly.
I use to work as a Special Events Coordinator…I aspired to that postion. In fact I really really wanted to work in that industry. I worked in that field for 10 years. Now, you would never see me in that postion again. Not interested in budgets, time lines, suppliers, to do lists, meetings, deadlines.
I can’t believe some days…how happy I am that I’m working as a Food Sales Rep.
I have a joke with my boss that: I am “salesman of the year” as I AM THE ONLY SALES PERSON for this company.
I’m hoping to get an award at the sales conference at the end of the year. Just kidding.

Greetings I just finished reading your blog post and I’m rather impressed. I do have a few questions for you personally though. Are you thinking about performing a follow-up posting about this? Will you be going to keep bringing up-to-date as well? Also if you get an opportunity could you rate my personal acai power webpage if you receive the opportunity?

For me it would be nearly impossible to bounce in and out of those stores. I would have to wander around Pusateris or McEwans for a long time before I left… ! I also would have to leave my wallet in the car or the house would be full of imported jam, fancy bbq sauces and who knows what else!?

I was actually laughing out loud at “check twitter, check email, check twitter again” that would be the highlight of my day 😀
Great, quick and funny blog post, my favourite kind to read!!

Okay but it sounds like you missed breakfast, you know it is the most important meal of the day.

I always wanted to know what you did for your ‘real’ job. Sounds like it suits you perfectly! Faced paced, interesting, always changing. It’s great that you’re doing something you enjoy. What made you decide to leave the Special Events industry?
