I’ts been a month of huffing and puffing. I’m sure you can relate. It’s January and many of you made resolutions to start excercising, just like me!!
I am happy. I love the focus. I love the challenge. I love how the body can recover (some days more than others). I love wearing my lululemon top again with my Joe Fresh yoga pants. I love going to the pool at 9 p.m. at nite. I love knowing that in 6 months I will get a chance to see if there’s RESULTS.
HA….who am I kidding? My body does its own thing. I will never see major results. Maybe a minute here and there but that’s it. I’m ok with that. (I think).
I am not competitive…however I decided last year (coz I didnt know about it before), that I would sign up in the CLYSEDALE category for the Olympic Distance Triathlon. After all, why compete against women my age who are HALF my weight. All right, maybe not exactly half my weight but let’s just say “considerably” thinner. At the end of the day, as my friend says “you are really competing against yourself”.
This year, it would be nice to know that I was faster than the 71 year old women who ran by me on the 10 km run. I was not happy. But then again, I finished the race. I could walk the next day and it felt good knowing that I completed my first Olympic Distance Triathlon.
On Sunday, I’m off to Guelph for a day of training with coaches who train professional athletes. Those coaches know their stuff and for $20 its a good deal. (great deal).
It will be a day to learn some new techniques and huff and puff with with others who have the same goals. We will swim, run outdoors (I’m skipping this part and will run on a treadmill. I will admit, I’m a bit of a princess) and then bike on a trainer. Pictures will be posted next month…so stay tuned for Training: Month Number 2.
