Makeover Story …Part Two.
I guess I was searching a few websites one day, and stumbled across the words BE ON TV. So I clicked and found out that they were casting for a makeover on a show called “The Mom Show”. (it was on Slice Network).
So I filled out the form:
Question: why do you want to have a make over?
Answer: One day I will wear brown cords with a brown shirt, then the next day I will wear black pants with a black shirt and maybe on the next day I might mix-it up a bit and wear grey cords with a white shirt!! I need help.
Question: do you like shopping?
Answer: not really. When I find something I like, I buy it in multiples of three….therefore I am the proud owner of the same style of pants in three different shades (generally brown, grey and black).
Question: describe your “style”
Answer: I don’t have one, which is why I need this makeover! I am conservative to say the least. Not a jewellery lover cause I am overwhelmed with the options. So I simply skip the “accessory” section.
I also submitted a photo.
I then got a phone call. Actually it was an email. (isn’t everything done by email these days?). I was selected and I was thrilled. New clothes and a new hair cut, color etc!! How bad can that be?
Soon, the stylist and the crew came to the house to do a shoot of what I typically wear (this wasnt hard). They filmed me in the kitchen, and playing outside with the kids plus they interviewed me (this was hard…I hate talking infront of a camera).
Then I went to the studio…had my hair done, my make up done and wore the clothes the stylist selected for me. Indeed he got me out of my element. (See the above photo..of me and the stylist).
BLUE AND YELLOW…wow. Plus a belt and a scarf…OH MY!! Kinda felt like a stewardess but he indeed got me out of my normal conservative monochromatic every-day-look.
The hosts introduced the segment and then when an assitant gave me the signal, off I went from behind a curtain to stand there and smile…while the stylist chatted about my outfit.
I’d say 15 seconds of feeling like a mannequin?. LOL
So how do YOU get on a TV show? do the same thing I did…click on www.slice.ca, or www.foodnetwork.ca or www.wnetwork.ca or www.hgtv.ca and click on the link that says “BE ON TV”.
Let me know when you have your moment of fame ok?
p.s they aired the segment months later and I forgot to tape it. Can you believe?

You look absolutely amazing. I could desperately use a makeover too, I seem to be the only one at home who does not have new clothes or is not in fashion. I love color and love makeup, however what I seem to buy for me, gets used by my teenage girls so I tend not to buy new stuff.
I applied a few years ago when they came to our mall to recruit, however I guess I didn’t make it. I will have to try again.
