The car is packed and we are ready to go. Well not quite. I have delayed the trip so I could write another post before the weekend. (so thoughtful of me, eh?).
So, why the trip to Ottawa? The answer is simple: tonight my parents return to Ottawa after being away for a month. I went to visit them before their trip and it’s important for me to visit when they return.
Here is some background. My Dad is 81 and my Mom is 71.
They like to travel as they hate the Ottawa winter and who can blame them? But on several occasions I have received “THE CALL”.
i.e my dad had a heart attack on one vacation and needed a triple bypass asap. That vacation lasted three weeks.
i.e my dad had flesh eating disease on another vacation and was in hospital very very far away for more than two weeks.
i.e my dad had a stroke on another vacation.
So you see why I have been worrying!! I’m not even the worrying-type.
I really am grateful that they have the opportunity to travel and they believe in living life to the fullest. But on the other hand…I WORRY when they are away.
On that note…the highway is waiting for me. More stories about my trip to Ottawa next week. Promise!!

First of all, it must be said – you mom’s eyegasses are awesome!
My grandparents lived in Ottawa when I was growing up and I remember many car trips to O-town to visit them. These are some fond memories for me and I will always remember coming up through Kanata, going over a slight ridge, and then seeing the lights illuminating the city at night. Those were magical moments for me. I demanded I be woken up in fact!
Your post makes me wonder if my parents were going to Ottawa under different ciscumstances. If they were, I would never have known it.
I hope you had fun! Ottawa winters aren’t so bad… and Ottawa falls are beautiful!
