I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones! Our holiday has been great, and no one has fallen ill, which is a new experience for our family.
I got lots of great presents: Starbucks gift cards, a Brie baker, a new housecoat, 89 pairs of cute underwear, and a gift certificate for Lululemon. I was most excited about the Lululemon gift and have been pining for some high-quality, good-fitting workout gear, so on boxing day the hubby and I loaded up the kids in the van and drove the hour to the nearest Lululemon store. As we neared the location, I saw a long line of people snaking around the building. There must have been close to 60 people outside, waiting for their turn to set foot in the store! I inquired about the wait time and was told it was going to be at least an hour. After pushing down my initial disappointment, I decided to just forget about it and come again at a later date. The store was just in a frenzy and I doubt there would have been adequate inventory to meet the demand that day. So, I came home empty-handed.
I used to do a lot of Boxing Day shopping, but it’s lost its allure in recent years. I would rather go on a quieter day, take my time and not feel pressured to make impulse purchases.
What about you? Did you brave the crowds on Boxing Day to score some great deals? Or do you just hole up in your living room and enjoy your Christmas hangover?

I stay home. With the exception of a new TV Martin was determined to have last year (ha, and he alone braved the epic queue…) I really can’t be bothered. I’m happy to stay home in my jammies for days… there’s nothing I need THAT badly!!
I’m so happy no one else got sick at your house, lady – a Christmas Miracle indeed!! 🙂

I feel too guilty and too commercial spending $ on boxing day when there was so much spoiling on Xmas day. I loathe shopping in crowds and find that often I would purchase just because I braved the crowds and something was on sale. Better to stay at home! Jen is right too – nothing really all that special about the prices unless you sleep over in the line up.

I’ve never been a boxing day shopper. Don’t enjoy shopping itself very much and certainly don’t like crowds. However. I did find myself in Kelowna for night on the 25th and, like you, received a Lulu GC and thought I’d pop by on the 26th. If I’d have known I would have called to warn you! I took one look at the line, laughed and trotted into Starbucks for a nice brew instead. Later on, on the way out of town we stopped in again. I made it into the store but the sales weren’t that awesome and it was gong show, glad you didn’t wait that hour for it. Hopeless to try anything on. I’ll go back in Jan when it’s quiet. Double date?

I have absolutely no interest in Boxing Day shopping. I used to love it, but now that I’m older and wiser, I’ve figured out the retail tricks. Those door crasher specials are reserved for the nuts who line up at 4am. The rest of the sales are the same sale prices that will be in stores through next week. I’ll nurse my Christmas hangover, enjoy the downtime, and use my gift cards next week!

We got up at 5 AM and got a BBQ, then slept in the car for an hour and bought a dishwasher at 8 when the second store opened. Exhausting, but worth it!
