If one of Gwen Stefani’s sons told her that they were gay, the singer says her feelings towards them would not change.
“I would be blessed with a gay son,” Stefani said in an interview with PrideSource. “I just want my boys to be happy and healthy, and I just ask God to guide me every day to be a good mother because it is not an easy job.”
Stefani is a mother to three boys—Kingston, 9, Zuma, 7, and Apollo, 2—who she co-parents with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
The singer says that this topic actually comes up quite a lot in her circle of friends.
“I always ask my gay friends, ‘Okay so what was it like when you were a little boy?’”
For Stefani, it’s all about raising happy, healthy boys and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make sure she has three of them. From trips to her boyfriend Blake Shelton’s farm in Oklahoma, to trips to the salon for manicures, she’s willing to participate in any activity her boys enjoy.
“As long as my boys are protected and happy and I’m spending quality time with them, whether it’s doing sports or doing nails, it really doesn’t matter.”
