It’s a beautiful, clear day in Calgary. As I sit at the computer, I’ve got a spectacular view of the mountains and the Elbow River (see left) from the nearby window. We arrived on Friday to spend the holidays with my in-laws, and it’s been so much fun already. The kids were welcomed at the condo with lots of lego for my son, and a baby/stroller combo for my daughter. My husband is enjoying some down time after a very busy few weeks at work, and I’m enjoying the scenery and the company of our family.
Coming to Calgary is like a breath of fresh air. Here, in the Southwest part of the city, it’s not crowded or congested, and there are lots of trees, walking paths and access to nature. Also, unlike Toronto, there is no snow here (usually it’s the other way around!) so it’s been really easy to push the stroller around and take the kids for walks.
There’s a great little gym in the condo building, so the past two mornings I’ve snuck down for a little workout – a luxury that I’m truly enjoying! So far, I’ve been the only person in the gym, so I’ve been singing loudly to the tunes on my Ipod – my fave workout tunes of the moment are "Banquet" by Bloc Party, and "Falling Down" by Duran Duran (see Youtoube links below).
I haven’t quite figured out how to download pics to this computer, so I apologize for the lack of photos at this time. I’ll see if I can figure out over the course of our two-week visit! Happy Holidays!
