What to Wear this Holiday Season

Celebrate! The holidays are upon us and it’s time to bring on the bling, pile on the glitter, and sparkle like a star. The next few weeks offer up more opportunities to dress up, and they’re the only time of year when there’s no thing as too much.

This holiday season, it’s all about luxurious and decadent fabrics. Here are a few hot trends to help inspire your party ensembles.

Metallic

Metallic, lilac and jacquard…perfect for the holidays (of course, I’ll also be saying, “perfect for January blahs”, “perfect for Valentines Day”, “perfect for my birthday month” in the coming days, because I plan to wear the heck out of these beauties). They’re on sale right now and have just the touch of sparkly something that will make you stand out. They are also a great take on the recently announced Pantone colour of 2014; orchid. Faux Fur

Faux fur vest in cream from Forever 21, $35.80

I picked up a faux fur vest from Joe Fresh earlier this season on a whim, and get compliments every time I put it on. As soon as I drape myself in it, I stand a little straighter, look a little more sophisticated and feel a little edgier. This version from Forever 21 is a great longer length, and would look wonderful over leggings and a tunic, or with dark jeans and a blouse.

 Sequins

I’ve been looking forward to this week’s launch of the L’Wren Scott collection at Banana Republic since I first saw the look book. There are gorgeous prints and fun styles, but this sequin dress really caught my eye. It’s a splurge, but it’s the dress you’ll pull out of your closet for many New Years Eves to come.

Cashmere
