One of the hottest fashion trends for women this summer is (allegedly) shorts for the office. I say allegedly because I work downtown and have yet to see this pulled off in the real world.
As women we already have the advantage over men in dressing for the weather come summer. We can wear cool skirts, easy dresses, and sleeveless blouses and yet maintain our business decorum. How about shorts? Here are a couple of looks from Reitmans that I think make for a casual look for city streets or weekend chic. Some of the fashion magazines I’ve been reading have suggested that this look could be office appropriate.
Now I don’t have legs like Cameron Diaz, but even if I did, I’m not sure I could pull this look off in my office…what do you think? Would you modify and wear some Bermuda shorts with a blouse and blazer? Replace a skirt some chambray shorts on a Friday?
I might be able to pull off this version from Gap (much more successfully if I did have Ms.Diaz’s legs).
Whatever you do, for the love of all that is holy, please steer clear of this version of “bloomer shorts”from Gap for work (or anything else) unless your work involves something to do with French bistros and doing the cancan.
