For YEARS now, I’ve bemoaned one of fashion’s great mysteries: why on EARTH it’s impossible to find a winter dress with long (i.e., longer than cap) sleeves. The stores are AWASH with short-sleeved (or sleeveless!) winter dresses, but the thing about winter is the, you know, cold. And yes, layering is always an option, but most days, I’d much prefer to put on one simple piece, and be done with it. What do all the stores have against simple 3/4-length or long sleeve dresses for cold weather? ANSWER ME, STORES.
I was consequently THRILLED when I came across this on Land’s End Canvas, and even more thrilled when I saw it marked down more than 50%. Simple, great for work, yet…accessorize-able (IT COULD BE A WORD) and effortlessly put together. It hasn’t yet arrived (I got the navy and gray combo), but I can’t wait to try it on.
There were a bunch of other cute options in their sale section, as well. I also recently put out the call on Twitter to see if anyone else had any leads for cute, sleeved winter dresses, and here were some of the responses:
Boden
Nordstrom Rack
Ann Taylor/LOFT
Topshop
Shabby Apple
H&M
Target (online, specifically)
Modcloth
Happy shopping!

I found a few shirt-dresses with long but rollable sleeves at Anthropologie this fall, too. One in a nice thicker herringbone silk and a couple in fine-wale cord, which just screams cozy to me. ~love~
