Well, ladies, I am so impressed with myself! I have almost finished my holiday shopping and it is only the first week of December. Just a few more little things and some tough-to-buy-for-folks and I’m done.
What has me stressin’ now is my mommy wardrobe. I have some fun parties and events to attend this year and don’t want to invest in multiple outfits. I have a few smaller cocktail parties, a large work related event, and a corporate Christmas party. I am also going to a more casual New Year’s Eve party.
However, the one I am most unsure about is a mid-sized get together of some pretty influential peeps! The dress code is not defined so I am assuming it is casual-cocktail. I am completely unsure of what to wear and my husband is zero help when it comes to fashion advice. So, that’s where you guys come in. Check out the pics of potential outfits and vote for the one you think I should wear! Thanks in advance for your help!

You truly can’t go wrong with the LBD. That’s why it’s the LBD. Have a great time.

Jen, looks like you have a lot of options. The black dress with black boots look great on you and would be perfect for the casual-cocktail party. Wear the jeans and boots (black or brown) for the casual New Year’s Eve party. Have fun!

I LOVE YOU GUYS!! Here I was feeling all insecure about posting pics of myself and you have all been so nice…and helpful. I’ll post a pic after the party and show you what I wore. Plus, just got my hair cut quite short…getting used to it.

WOW! You look gorgeous! Why don’t you wear them all to the different events?
I think the black dress is your safest/best bet for the one you’re not sure how formal it is.
I would wear the jeans and teh brown top with the brown boots to the more casual event (I’m like another poster/not a fan of the light coloured shirt) OR buy a strappy flirty tank to dress any of teh skirts or jeans up.
You look amazing!
Shay

AJ, I like the jeans best but let’s get away from clothes! I wish I could have the gingerbread house in the post below 🙂 Love, Charlotte

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Wear whatever Ali says. She’s my style goddess. 😉 You look gorj in whatever you wear anyway, TALL PERSON!!!
Jen says
OK, could my hubby be ANY cuter??? xo

And now a guy’s perspective !!!
Although I think jen looks gorgeous in all the outfits, the little black dress is the hands down winner in my opinion – extremely sexy !!!!!!

outfit one for sure .. go w small earings and a great necklace that stands out. Some say black is boring .. but ramp it up with the right accessories … awesome!
Maddy says
Maddy says go for the brown skirt, AJ!

You look FABULOUS in all the outfits. It has to be the black dress for business event. Everyone has already made so many great suggestions for accessorizing, but I’ll just remind you about the metallic evening purses from La Senza/airmilesshops.ca as featured in Cool Products and Stuff – they are very handy for cocktail parties as you can loop the strap around your wrist, hold a cocktail and shake hands – great for meeting all those influential folks. Good luck!

I absolutely love that jeans outfit you have picked out. You look great in it! My fav outfit. That’s what I would pick if I was to go to a casual social gathering! Good luck in choosing!

I chose outfit one. I think it could use a few accessories – a large belt worn a little on the hips in a contrasting colour or with an interesting buckle could kick the whole outfit up a notch. Depending on how elaborate the belt is, a chunky necklace or chocker style necklace could really work too. If you go with the necklace make sure you keep any other jewelry discreet.
The belt to me is a must.
Good luck!

I thinks the jeans with the black v-neck top would look great. You will be comfortable and feel feminine. The shirt you are wearing with the jeans looks a little dated. Too many people resort to the LBD. Dare to be different! Wear whichever shoes you are most comfortable in. Assume you might be on your feet for a while that way you will always choose comfort first. Have a great time!

All 4 outfits look great. But my personal favourite is the brown top and skirt. It’s a little bit different than the usual black.

I like the black dress too but since you don’t know how dressy it is i think that you are safer with the grey skirt combo. You look good!
Allyson says
First, you look amazing!!! Love the black dress but also like someones idea about the grey skirt and that lovely white/cream top that is so flattering. I also think boots but it does depend on the group. What a fun idea!

Black dress with the boots and then depending on which party you’re attending, spice it up with accessories; could be something as simple as a bright red purse or a bols necklace.

Can’t go wrong with the black dress hair up and nice necklace…but as an alternate idea, what about the white top with the grey skirt and black boots?

I have to say for a casual cocktail event I am lovin’ the brown skirt…brown is so beautiful this time of year and the boots look great! The black dress is nice too but I think it is a little much for a casual do…whatever you wear, Just have fun!!

I say defintely the black dress #1 and the boots for sure. They are in fashion and very sexy !! Plus if it does snow, you do not have to take a change of shoes.
Karen says
Can’t go wrong with LBD. You can dress it up or down, professional looking but also very elegant party. I would probably go with the shoes, esp. if it’s an evening affair. But if it’s in the day the boots would also rock!
Not too shabby wardrobe for a mommy!
ali says
you can NEVER go wrong with a black dress. never.
i would wear the boots, definitely.
but, seriously, you have an awesome wardrobe…i wish you weren’t a foot taller than i am…
michelled says
Love the black dress – would find a necklace that you love that has some colour in it so that you stand out from all the rest of the black – then get a cute purse and you are all set!
Jen says
Just to clarify – the shoes are black. They look silver from the reflection of the flash…sorry!
Joanne says
Definitely the black dress with the shoes. The jeans with the brown boots are awesome, too, maybe for a more casual event?
Anissa says
Black dress and boots for sure! Silver sling backs would stick out unless you change the stockings. Love the all black dress, stockings and boots.
Jennifer says
Well, I’m obviously in the minority here, but the flash of brown is a welcome change from the sea of black we see at this time of year (and I’m guilty of it, too, sitting here in head to toe black). I love the brown boots, and think you’d stand out a little more in that outfit.
All four look great, though!
Kath says
All right…I’m with everyone else. Black dress – boots or heels, both are great!
Tara says
Go with the black outfit it looks good and black make us look slim.
Boots are okay but have fun play a little show off that sexy look.
Laura says
Black dress, slingback heels. Show off your great legs!
LAVENDULA says
you look great in all those outfits but you can’t go wrong in classic black.love the silver metallic shoes.
LoriD says
I’m a big fan of the little black dress… it’s so easy to dress it up or down. I’m assuming this is an evening event, so I would go with the sling-backs over the boots. You’ll look great!
