So, I found out that Madonna and I have something in common. We’re both moms that attended TIFF events this year we both apparently love Shellac…and hate hydrangeas.
I had the opportunity of meeting Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND Inc at the Toronto Hazelton Hotel. If you don’t know about Shellac, think of it as a manicure (or pedicure) that lasts 2-3 weeks with no chipping. Yes, mommy friends, it’s built to withstand the harshest of family activities! Seriously, my friend came back from a two-week camping trip and her nails were perfect.
Shellac is popular with moms and starlets alike for its durability and never ending gloss and Arnold’s team says it’s the most affordable fashion accessory one could have.
TRENDING: for fall, effects from foiling to a marbling finish she calls “organi-tech”. The long almond shape is gaining popularity. Also the “one accent finger” design is growing in world trends. Interesting tidbit, Quebecers tend to be not-so-shy about colours but they still love their French manicures. Torontonians goes for a shorter length and more conservative and Americans overall are favouring the almond shaped longer nails with all different colours and effects.
Not only are they busy with TIFF but New York’s Fashion Week is also in full swing. The company has 5000 nails to cover and they meet with each designer and collaborate on colours and trends to compliment their collections.
So, I’m making a statement at TIFF and loving my Black Pool and Purple Purple wave design – as so does hubby! **wink**

Cool ! Gun Metal is a very strong colour that is showing up for the fall season. There are different variations and I tried my two tone (almost Ombre style) with black pool and purple purple. I’m into two weeks now with my shellac and it’s still holding without a chip. I may just see how long it will last!
It’s all in the care over the weeks you have it on. a natural oil like almond oil rubbed on the nails every couple of days will help maintain healthy nails regardless if you use nail polish or not.
As for removal, it definitely needs a salon to remove the Shellac who knows how to do it. You don’t want to do this at home otherwise you do risk damaging your nails. So, trust the professionals. CDN Inc actually goes and trains nail technicians around the world on how to do this. That’s what you want to know. Its about 10 minute process if done properly.
I’ve personally done Shellac on my nails over the past year and never had any issues. My nails are strong and healthy all the time. So far so good!

I’m currently sporting a deep merlot colour for fall, but in a week when this starts chipping and flaking, I’ll probably change it up to a dark earthy brown.
I couldn’t even imagine the Shellac lasting for 2-3 weeks and you get to pick any colour?!?!?! But what about removal? How arduous a process is it?

I’d love a long-wearing manicure… on my hands, I like buff/pale pink, but I like those vampy dark reds on my toes, which are always polished.
I wish Quebec-residents could be eligible for this contest!! Poo.
