What Everyone Wants To Know

December 8, 2009 by NaomiTanakaJesson

How did you become a McDonalds Moms’ Quality Correspondent? And how can I become one!

Well it all started after I picked up a Happy Meal for the kids. Remember the animated Bee movie with Jerry Seinfeld?  Well the movie takes place in New York, and on the Happy Meal box it had “Win a $25,000 shopping spree in New York!” brochure on it. I thought to myself, it would be like having a What Not To Wear experience minus the helpful tips and burning of an old wardrobe. I immediately sent in my entry.

I did not win.

But I did get an email asking if I wanted to be a part of the McDonald’s Moms’ Quality Correspondent program. They were looking for moms across Canada who would like to give McDonald’s feedback about the quality of their food and restaurants. Usually I don’t do these types of things, but I thought, hey I could help maybe encourage what I would want to see at McDonald’s and I am always up for learning more.

So I sent in an email application.

Then I received an email saying that there would be a more inclusive application form coming my way via courier.

I filled it out, actually I typed up my answers on a separate sheet, as you know I couldn’t POSSIBLY fill in little 1cm X 10 cm boxes with all I had to SAY! Hahaha!

And then I got a call, asking me to do an interview over the phone.  It was scheduled and they called while I was at the park with Jackson’s daycare on a field trip.

And Voila! Here I am and thankful and surprised that McDonald’s wants my opinion and questions and amazed how readily they are providing me with the answers!

Unfortunately, the five of us are it for MQCs for now, but keep asking the questions and visiting the site and blog, and that way you can be a part of what we are doing!

Keep the questions coming!

I actually eat more McDonalds now knowing how high their quality and safety standards are. Hesitate no more as the quality is definitely there but I do suggest you checking out the nutrition information, as I do not recommend eating out anywhere too much. I personally like to keep track of nutrition and choose according to how my day is going. If I did an 11 mile run, I can have my Big Mac with no guilt, but if I am not as active I will chose something lighter like a salad with grilled chicken or a wrap. It is not the McDonalds as much as it is your choices that you make. I believe in everything in moderation!

I did wonder how you all became McMoms. Do you eat at McDonald’s more now that you know exactly what goes into their food? When I go to McDonald’s with my kids I am always hesitant to eat a burger or chicken sandwich because I worry about the calories and quality.
