Weird. But Good.

January 10, 2011 by Amanda

In the past few months, my two older girls have been slowly inching towards a better relationship. As Karenna, the two year-old, masters the English language and doesn’t automatically revert to screaming and hair-pulling if she doesn’t get her way, Avelyn has warmed to her. They have fun playing tag, and hide and seek, and “let’s jump off the couch for two hours straight.” There is still plenty of crying and fighting and yelling, but the moments when I see them laughing together, having fun, and sharing little conversations, they fill my heart with warmth.

I never had a sister, and I’m so glad these two crazy kooks have each other.

I have one sister – it’s just the two of us. The Sisterhood is a wonderful thing… I don’t know what I’d do or where I’d be without her!
It’s the goggles and the bongo that are killing me… ooof!!

Love it! I am the middle of 3 girls and it is the best. They are still my 2 best friends in the world. I remember that they were also my “safe place” when I was a kid. We tried out every socially inappropriate thing on each other first to learn whether we could take it out into the world. And, they always had my back and I had theirs.
    Sisters rock!

That picture is awesome! Amanda your line – ‘There is still plenty of crying and fighting and yelling, but the moments when I see them laughing together, having fun, and sharing little conversations, they fill my heart with warmth.’ – this will be their theme their entire life. My sister and I are the best of friends – we are the epitome of ‘can’t live with you but can’t live without you’ – but we can laugh and have fun and we know each other better than anyone else. And honestly this picture could be us on a random Saturday night …we just have cellulite and a wine glass in our hands…
